Hp PL4272N image issues

I have an Hp PL4272N Plasma TV with an image problem. When I connect the power cord to the TV it automatically turns on and goes directly into a green testing screen that assures me there is no problem and then tells me to power down the TV and check the connects. The remote is not responsive and neither are any of the buttons on the TV itself. Please help.

TV Turns on (Blue Light) and then turns off but there is no imagae or sound of Tv Turning On! Nor Backlights turning on!

Sounds like there's a short in the power somewhere. I'd start with unplugging it then checking to make sure all cables and/or cords are properly connected (i.e. make sure there are no loose cords anywhere)

TV was on, then suddenly I heard a loud pop & the screen went black. Audio is still working.

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

HP-R5052 reboot

It's definitely an overheating problem if your plasma turns off by itself after a while. I would suggest to place a cooling fan near the back of it as a temporary fix.
There could be a power supply issue along with a Ysustainer board but in order to know that for sure, you should use a hair drier and blow hot air to the power supply and see if the TV turns off, if the time that the tv turns off is shorter when blowing hot air to the power supply; then is the power supply issue.
Good Luck.
