Works fine until it gets to final spin cycle and then makes very loud knocking noises. Have checked with a level and it is sitting flat. Have ran different loads (heavy, light etc...) in it and it happens still. Happened all of a sudden, bought system new and have done around 250-300 washes.
SOURCE: Loud Knocking
this is a collapsed drum bearing, one of the most costly of the repairs apart from the timer and motor, not normally a job for the diy man unless has an engineering background, sorry, the cost of repair depends on the age and replacement cost of a machine, a bit like a car, would you buy an engine for a 20 year old car, if you have a machine thats expensive then the repair could be worth it? stop running it you will cause more damage both to the clothes and the machine sorry (ps i am a retired appliance engineer of 20 years service)
SOURCE: Kenmore front loading HE3 makes knocking sounds during spin cycle
Ours started knocking several months ago and then progressed to a high pitched sound when in the spin cycle. I manually turned the drum and heard and felt a bearing roughness. I lifted the drum assembly and felt a fair amount of play, which I think the initial knocking noise came from. On the sears web site a new rear drum mount cost 293.00. Today we went and bought a LG model wm2455hw at Home depot, on sale until 2/20/08. I couldn't see paying to repair a machine that only lasted four years.
SOURCE: washer makes loud knocking noise
HI thanks for your question. you could have something stuck in one of the holes, in the tub, or something caught in the pump, check those 2 . if need more assistance , get back to me. thanks the appliance doc
SOURCE: Washing machine won't do final spin.
Remove the front lower panel. Right in front you will see the pump filter. Get some towels and a bucket and unscrew the filter cap and pull the filter out. See if you have a bunch of lint and stuff in there. If you do, clear it out, refit carefully and give the washer another try. The companies dont tell you how to do it, for their techs then won't make any money. A tech to clean your filter!!!?? $$$
You're free to rate me............not that i get anything. Happy laundry!!
SOURCE: machine knocks and walks when spinning a small load
Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

The problem is the brake. The odd time what happens is moisture gets on thebrake rotor and the squealing is heard when the brake stator is applied to stop the tub from spinning. This moisture, may drip down from the tub onto the brake rotor which could indicate a leaky tub seal. If you can't see any dripping when you fill the tub with water, don't worry about the tub seal. Many times than not the brake is just going sour on it's own.
Sometimes you can fix the squealing by cleaning the rotor and stator with a light sandpaper, such as emery/sand cloth. If that doesn't work you will need to replace the brake stator and rotor. If you need to replace them replace both parts together, don't just change the stator without also replacing the rotor, or vice versa. And here's a bonus tip: the brake spring exerts 200 pounds of force. If you try to remove the six 5/16" screws without using this brake removal tool, serious injury can/could happen!! The splined part in the middle of the brake needs to be greased really good before putting the brake back on!
