My elderly mom has an 2002 EWF2702 Emerson TV and this seems to be a close model #. In the past few weeks both her Emerson remote and a universal remote stopped working. TV works fine if you use controls on the front of the set. I have changed batteries, unplugged everything and checked connections and reprogrammed channels. I wondered if the sensor could be bad, if that is an expensive fix or looking for any other advise of suggestions. Don't have the manuel but see the one for 2704 online here.

Thanks, I will try this, but it does seem strange that two different remotes would have the same problem suddenly (and the universal remote is only about a month old).
Hi i am having the same exact problem i have an Emerson EWF2704 and i cannot get either remote to work the one that came with it or the universal remote i have asked people and they said it may be the remote sensor in the television and i am with the other guy isnt it strange that the universal remote won't work also?
WE HAVE TRIED THE CLEANING OF THE CIRCUIT BOARDS, BOUGHT 4 DIFFERENT REMOTE CONTROLS THAT WERE "CAMPATIBLE" WITH THE TV--BUT HAVE NOT HAD ANY SUCCESS AT ALL. ALSO UNABLE TO LOCATE SERVICE MANUALS. AGAIN -- WOULD THIS BE AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR??
PS-- THIS ALSO HAPPENED LAST OCTOBER BEFORE WE OBTAINED THE INTERNET. STRANGE--ISN'T IT?
