If you have a digital converter, then you are only able to watch that converter on the input it is on. However you can split the cable before the cable box and run 1 side to the box and one side to the rf in on your tv

The convergence ICs and the six 1.8 ohm 1watt resistors need to be replaced. You can get the convergence repair kit for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com which has the Two Convergence ICs and the six resistors plus the CD with instructions on how to do the repair.

I have a Toshiba older TV that doesn't have HD digital converter box I bought a leaf ultimate antenna do I still need to use the converter box with this new antenna

if the tv does not have a built in hd digital tuner you need a Hd digital converter to analogue converter. What you need to be careful about is the available inputs on the TV if it only has AV in then you need a converter that transmits out RCA video or an analogue tv channel on RF the tv can tune into. Some of the new converters have HDMI out so if TV does not have HDMI input it won't connect. The antenna would go into the converter. Not sure how much signal you need you may need an rf amplifier if the signal is poor in your area.

Cable is input to Antenna 1 slot.... cable does not work works fine when input through a cable box. Will the TV not process cable without a box?

danny_brotsc,

Unfortunately your units tuner is the old NTSC system and will not work with the new digital system without a cable box.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

We're having trouble getting all of our channels. We don't have cable but we do have a converter box yet we only recieve3-6 channels at a time. What can we do? We've been having this problem since we...

So you do not have cable service, taht means you are using Out-door, or In-door antenna to get the off the air signals? Your TV has ATSC tuner to receive digital Off the Air signal uisng antenna, so you do do not need to use the converter box.
To get a lot of Channel, you must have good antenna and the TV stations must not be blocked by tall buildings or mountains, which may explain why you are not getting many stations.
You may have to install good out door antenna to get more stations.

I bought a toshiba 36HF12 36" tv

The TV does need a converter box to receive digital off-the-air broadcasts. It's an HD set, but that doesn't mean digital; no digital tuner was built in. You can find the manual here at Toshiba. Hope this helps, and thanks for using Fixya!

Everything on the TV works EXCEPT live TV.

Please clarify a few things. Are you using cable TV, satellite TV or a TV antenna? If cable, are you using a set top box (and is it powered on) or does the TV convert the cable info. If satellite, is the set top box powered on? If off the air (antenna TV), can the TV receive the new digital signals and if not, do you have a digital converter box between the antenna and the TV?

Toshiba 36" analog TV Tivax converter box RCA Digital Flat Amplified Antenna How do I get signals without cable?

I understand you have;
Toshiba 36" analog tv,
Tivax converter box,
RCA Digital Flat amplified antenna.

You want to get signal over the air;
Connect the antenna to the Tivax converter box.
Connect the Tivax Converter box to the input for the TV.

Turn on the antenna, Converter box and TV. You should get a menu on the tv screen. Follow the instructions and SCAN in the channels in your area by using the converter box remote.

You can see your channels by going to www.tvfool.com and entering your information.

Want to use DTV converter with my Toshiba 32AF42

If you're not on cable or satellite, you will need an antenna to get off-the-air reception. This TV does not have a DTV tuner, so you will also need the converter box. Depending on how far you are from the broadcasters' transmitters, you might be able to get away with an indoor antenna. Or you might find that you get few channels with the inside antenna and then you'll need something outdoors. There are a number of styles to choose from.

The antenna hooks to the converter box, and the converter box then goes to the TV. It can be hooked to the TV's "ANTENNA" connector. This should be covered in the set's manual where it shows you how to connect a regular antenna. With the box, your TV will always stay on channel 3 or 4 (depends on how you set up the box) and you'll change channels on the converter.

You can also connect the converter to the TV with audio and video cables like you would a DVD player. Most of the "coupon-eligible" converter boxes include direct video and audio output jacks. This gives you better picture and sound quality than by hooking it to the TV's antenna input.

Hooking up a converter box is like going back in time to when cable TV was new and you had to get a converter box from your cable company. Same way of hooking it up. Hope this helps!
