0ne burner won't ignite, there is no spark from the igniter on the burner. How do you diassemble a burner unit?

Hello- These burners can be difficult to disassemble. I would first try an brush the ignitor, electrode, with a wire brush if it is blackened just be careful not to crack the ceramic. Also, make sure that the burner cap is on correctly, it will not spark if the burner cap is not positioned correctly. In order to remove the burner you have to remove the Ventrui tube, this is the bronze nut with the tube attached that is in the center of the burner. You will need a 20MM socket. If you can get the venturi out the burner will pull off. I believe on this one you have to take off both burners in order to remove that section of the cooktop. Be very careful no to force the nut because if it starts to turn but is not actually loosening then you are turning the orifice holder underneath and can crimp or crack the gas supply tube to that burner. The problem with these is that they often do not come out and have to be drilled off and then replaced along with the orifice holder that it screws into under the cooktop. Now, if the problem is occurring on one of the burners that has the extra low simmer (the ones that you can set to come on and off at an interval) then you will probably need a Potentiometer kit which replaces the switches and the spark module. Unfortunately it will probably be best to have a Tech out who is familiar with Thermadors and their particular issues. Sorry

When i turn the knob for the front burner, there is a clicking sound (igniter), but the burner takes a while to ignite. the other burner work fine. is the front burner igniter malfunctioning?

Hi, Make sure the ignitor is actually sparking on this burner. Try removing the cap on the burner and scraping/sanding the bottom side where the ignitor spark hits it. Sometimes these will get a film on them and not let the spark work properly. If there is another cap the same size, you can try switching them and see if the burner lights. If that does not help, remove the cap again and see if there is something plugging the orfice at all.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist ou further.

Burner cap

The cook top should be bolted to the counter. Look under and look for brackets that attach the bottom of the cooktop to the sides of the counter. and also the model number should be somewere underneath. If you can get me the Model number I can get you the maintenance manual in PDF format.

Gas cook top

Most of the time when I come out for a service call with this problem, it is usually because the burner cap is not seated properly on the base. Look at the burner and make sure there are no uneven gaps. Most of the time you will have to rotate the burner cap till a notch or pin "seats" into place. Most burner caps just sit on the bases, and so they get knocked off or moved when the cooktop is cleaned or installed. Hope this helps!

Flame too low

Most probably dirty jets. If water was spuilled, there is a possibility of rust forming on some parts. Low flames are usually due to inadequate gas supply, due to dirty jets and burners. Often rust forms on the top burners in the little holes, causing slight blockage - clean the holes with a needle properly and check. Oshie
