My daughter went to turn off our television this evening when a burst of static electricity leapt from her fingertip to the power button. The TV turned off and we didn't think much of it until about an hour later when we tried to turn the television back on. Now it begins to power up and the Scepter logo appears, but it repeatedly just turns itself back off. I've tried unplugging it several times to essentially "reboot it," but that has not worked.
The high voltage spike damaged electronic components inside your tv. Transistors and microchips are very sensitive to high voltage spikes even if they last for a fraction of a second. It can probably be repaired by a tv repair person but if the tv is several years old, it would be better to just buy a new tv. The cost for a new tv is much lower now than it was just a few years ago.

You have to get this thing called the backlight inverter from the manufacturer. They'll fix their defective out-of-warranty TV for $250 or you might find the inverter on eBay for $175. I wouldn't trust a used inverter, since it's likely to have the same common problem. Sceptor will warranty their repair, so unless you know what you're doing, you might waste $175 and a lot of work, when you could just spend $250 (plus shipping?) for the whole tv to be "refurbished" with a new warranty.

Unplug it hold down the Channel Down button and the Volume Up button unplug it for 10 seconds then plug it back in and continue holding them down for another 10 seconds then release. I had the same issue and this fixed it now I have another though *~*
