Rangemaster Professional+ FXP90 oven just died

Never ever use self cleaning cycles. It is a scam to keep suppliers selling parts. It burns out elements, fans, door locks and even control boards. No it won't work when it cools down and you will need a service call. You can try turning off the power for 10 minutes by way of a sort of reset, but in the hundreds of 'cleaning cycle' woes I have seen here, it won't work and you have parts that need replacing.

Temperature is about 880 degrees Fahrenheit Self-Clean Ovens
During the cleaning cycle the oven is heated to about 880 degrees Fahrenheit (471° C.). At this temperature, food soils inside the oven decompose, leaving behind a small amount of ash. TOO FIERCE!

By the date on this link, I told someone the same thing a few days ago!

1960s GE P7 Built-in Double Oven (Self Cleaning Upper Oven): How do I get my oven open after Self Cleaning, if I've followed the Directions, but is still locked?

The Self Cleaning cycle should NEVER be used. It will break the oven once you have used it a few times. It also burns out elements, fans, electronic control boards and LATCHES. The 650'F heat is just too hostile. You need a service engineer to remove the oven and replace the latch.

Please always include full MAKE and MODEL in ALL questions. Two weeks ago we had a similar issue with an oven that had a manual sliding latch. I found the manual for it, and a parts schematic.

We have a Viking double oven. We accidentally cooked food on the self clean setting and not the bake setting. Is the food safe to eat?

good rule of thumb when it comes to food, "when it doubt, throw it out." it is not worth risking illness and other possible issues. my personal opinion.

How do i operate the self cleaning function

Hello - Before using the self-cleaning cycle of the appliance, remove the broiler pan and any utensils stored in the appliance. Also remove any excess spillovers in the oven cavity. Allow the oven to cool before cleaning. During the self-cleaning cycle, the outside of the wall oven can become very hot to the touch.

Typically to set the controls for a self-clean the first step is to confirm that the clock shows the correct time of the day. Press CLEAN. "---" appears in the display. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW once. "3:00" appears in the display for a 3 hour cycle. To change to a 2 hour cycle press DOWN ARROW"2:00" appears in the display. As soon as the controls are set, the motor drive lock will begin to close automatically and the "LOCK" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the oven door while the light is flashing (it takes about 15 seconds for the over door to lock). "CLn" will appear in the display during the Self-Clean cycle and the "LOCK" light will glow until the Self-Cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled and the oven temperature has cooled.

When the Self-Clean cycle has completed, the time of the day or "End" will appear in the display window and the "Clean" and "LOCK" light will continue to glow. Once the over has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. If "End" is the display and the Clean indicator light remains ON, press CLEAR/OFF. The time of the day will appear in the display.

If it becomes necessary to stop or interrupt a Self-Cleaning cycle, press CLEAR/OFF. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. Restart the Self-Clean cycle once all conditions have been corrected.

Have a viking professional oven and it takes too

A weak oven ignitor will cause this problem. even though it eventually lights the temp has dropped considerably so you don't get consistent temp. turn the oven on and listen for the burner to light. should light within about 2 minutes. if not replace oven ignitor(s)

How long to run self clean on viking professional

The "Self Clean" will run for quite a while up to 4 hours I believe, during this time, the stove heats up to about 900 degrees!! and during this time the Door is automatically closed via special locks. It will allow you to open once it is finished, it should "Signal" this event.

2. TURN THE "SELECTOR" AND/OR "OVEN" DIALS TO THE LOCK (OR CLEAN) POSITION
3. PRESS THE "COOK TIME" BUTTON
4. SET THE CLOCK TO 2 OR 3 HOURS (I.E., "2:00" OR "3:00"), DEPENDING ON HOW DIRTY THE OVEN IS

7. CLEANING WILL STOP AFTER THE TIME SELECTED (I.E., 2 / 3 HRS) AND THE DOOR SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK

Self-cleaning feature of GE Built-In Oven does not work

Simply set the Clock and Delay Start to the current time, then set the Stop Time ahead 3 hours. For example, if it is currently 8:00 then set the Stop Time to 11:00. The lights on the console will come on and the cleaning cycle will begin. At some point during the cycle when the oven gets hot enough, the lock mechanism is "fixed" and will not release until the cycle is complete.
