TomTom Go 500 doesn't recognize SD cardq

Hi, I was given a TomTom Go 500 by my father, as his new car had sat nav built in.
His lost the SD card, so I brought a new one and loaded maps which i got off the internet but when I insert this into the device and swtich it on. I get a big red cross over the sd card diagram.

Any one able to tell me what files I need to have on the card or what I need to do?

Thanks in advance

Tom Tom does not recognize the maps you download because they are not from them. Priority controlled.

SOURCE: TomTom Home does not recognise device

Have you created a TomTom account? For each device you own it needs its own e mail address which it links to and you need to be logged in when you plug in your Tomtom.

Renault Koleos with the built navigation system. System was reset to factory settings. I switched on now the hour glass, then blank, then system not configured, please connect diagnostic tool.

Hi is it going past the renault log to menu etc but just hanging with the hour glass ? if its just hanging on the nav and nothing else it could be a faulty sd card that has the tomtom software on. the sd card is usually blue, and will be in the main controller unit, on yours i think its under the back seat but not sure as some have been fitted in the rear side compartments. you can test the sd card on a card reader for a pc, some times it can be fixed by the pc. there are updates on renault site but i think you need to pat for them.

I have got a binatone a350 but it has got tom tom one edition 3 loaded on it the thing is it comes on but when it gets to last screen all i get is a blue screen and it says NO MAPS. is there a solution...

I have loaded my Binatone B350 With a 128mb SD Card from my old Tom Tom Go which slots in perfect.
When i turn my sat nav on i get a blue screen stating
"WARNING SYSTEM REGISTRY KEY LOST"
The sat nav then reboots itself and goes to the main page
"BINATONE DRIVE LIKE A LOCAL" and then repeats itself to blue screen again. I have taken the card out and still get the blue screen. Any ideas on how to solve this please

How can i update my guide sat nav

If the maps are on an sd card you may be able to put tom tom on but as for updates myguide no longer exist and so don't provide updates. Mine still works fine and any roads that have been built that don't appear on the sat nav i have managed anyway.

My tom tom sat nav wont turn on even when plugged in charger whats the problem?

hi try a soft reset, first make sure your battery is full. if you use a sd card, remove it. push reset button on bottomside of your tomtom, its in the middle next to "reset" push it with a small pin, paperclip or something, for at least 15 seconds. after that push on/off button for minimum 5 seconds. if used push back sd card. good luck

Serial number on memory card of TomTom??

Yes it does. Insert the card into a card reader or if you have access to the unit connect it to your computer. Open my computer and open the drive letter of the device. After you have opened the drive look for a ttgo.bif or ttgo.bak file open the file using notepad and it will tell you the device serial number and device unique id. I will tell you this though if their device is working and is not freezing at start up they are not using your sd card. Each sd card has a unique number and will only work with that device.
Hope this answers your question.

Tomtom go 300

The tomtom GO 300 does not need an installation disk. It has firmware ( thats a sort of pre-installed software ) that is put on it at the tomtom factory. If the firmware has become corrupted it can be reinstalled or "updated" by logging on here > http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=17 then click the DOWNLOAD TOMTOM HOME Link. Then connect your tomtom to your computer with a USB lead. Run the TomTom-Home software you downloaded and select "UPDATE MY PRODUCT" . After that , if you don't already have one you will need a valid SD card for your tomtom containing the maps for your country and some other activation codes which you get when you purchase maps from tomtom.
