Computer won't recognize kodak z981 camera

Computer won't recognize the camera so I can't load my pictures from the camera to the computer. Placing the memory card in a card reader and then trying to load them to the computer doesn't work either.

SOURCE: Memory Card Requires Formatting

Hey B418,
Formatting will delete all your pictures on your camera or memory card. The camera might be prompting you to format because the the camera's memory is full. To avoid losing your pictures I would connect your camera to a computer, download your images to your computer first, and then format the memory.

Sincerely,
Allan

SOURCE: Kodak memory card error

Hey hardygurl198,
What is most likely going on is you need to format the card so it will work in your camera. Every time you get a new memory card for a digital camera or if you put a memory card formatted to a different camera in a new digital camera you will need to format the memory card before you can use it. Directions on how to format your memory card are on page 27 of your camera manual, and I have provided a link to a PDF download of your manual in case you need it. I hope this helps!

SOURCE: Kodak EasyShare C633 not reading any SD Card

check the manual for any such thing like "memory card problem" or open the page that talks about it, it may contain useful info
usually there is a preferred type recommended to use

using a memory card that was installed in other cameras may change its format or file structure, this may cause your camera not to recognize it, try formatting the card and then install it again, most cameras have a "format" option in the menu, try it out

there might be a "reset to factory defaults" option, this may reset your camera to the way it was originally it was in, could solve it

Kodak Z981 -- mode dial issue

I have a Z981 myself. I just set my camera as you did (to "A") but did not experience the issue you mention?
Just to be clear, remember that setting the camera to "A" means "Aperture priority", meaning that you can control the lens aperture (with the "jog dial" on the top of the camera) and the camera will automatically set the shutter speed to create a proper exposure. "A" does NOT mean automatic exposure control. You must use "P" (Programmed) mode to make the camera make all the decisions about shutter speed and lens aperture.
I am including a web link to the User Guide for the Z981. You might want to revisit the Guide to make sure you are using the correct settings for your pictures.
BTW, I like my Z981 quite a bit, especially the zoom. I've taken some great pictures with it.

Pictures won't download to computer from Kodak z981

Did you install Kodak Picture Easy Software already?
To transfer pictures from your camera to the computer, you need this software (and the driver that comes with it)
If you done't have the software, try to get it with Kodak, or use an external memory card reader, to transfer the pictures from the memory card to the computer. That must work.

I have a Z981 Camera. I will be out of the country for a few weeks. Can I take a supply of Alkaline "AA" batteries to use. Recharging will be a problem, but I don't want to damage my...

Yes, alkaline batteries will work fine. You might want to consider lithiums instead, however. They cost more but last longer, so you won't need to carry as many.

I have a Kodak EasyShare Z981 camera. It says my internal memory is full. What do I do?

You have to transfer the pictures and videos in the internal memory to your computer. For this you have to download and install Kodak software on your computer.

( Make sure the computer is connected to the Internet. When you connect the camera to the computer, the KODAK Software Downloader automatically runs. Follow the prompts to download and install KODAK Software.)

Please follow the steps below to connect your camera to your computer;
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Use the KODAK Camera USB Cable, U-8 to connect camera to computer. (Use only the cable included with this camera!)
3. Turn on the camera.
After the software is installed, follow the prompts to transfer pictures and videos to your computer.

* If the downloader does not run, find and launch it:
• WINDOWS OS: in My Computer
• MAC OS: on your Desktop

Note: You can use the Memory card to save the pictures and videos taken on your camera. In this case you can also use a card reader to transfer your pictures/videos.This prevents the user from connecting the camera every time to transfer data.Eject the memory card and insert it into the card reader.

Please feel free to ask your doubts. Thanks for choosing Fixya.Your valuable feedback would be appreciated.

I do no know how to send pictures directly from my camera to my email address.

Download or transfer the pictures to a folder in your computer - preferably your "Pictures" folder. When you write the Email, "attach" the picture to the Email by locating the Picture folder in your computer and selecting the pictures you want attached.

Please explain how I can download my photos from my Kodak Easy Share Z981 Camera. Having trouble

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.
