Please take out the new cartridges and re-position them correctly i.e. color cartridge on the left and black cartridge on the right seating. Check that you hear a click sound when the cartridge is placed in the seating. Print a test page. Then switch off the printer for some time. Re start the printer and now carry out the gray scale printing.
Will it print anything at all? Or it is not printing from the computer? Power it off and press the cancel key while powering on and see if it will print a configuration label. Be more specific in relating your problem and we can be more help.
When you go to print, select printer properties and select black and white printing, not gray scale photo printing. If this doesn't help, try cleaning the black cartridge or replacing it. Hope this helps!
Most reasons for this is a slight adjustment problem with page length. You can recalibrate the printer via the menu system, doing it this way will adjust the sensors with new settings
More than likely what you want is a gray scale image and not a true Black and White image. If you tell the printer to print Black and White for a photo, you will lose all the gray shades available between the black and white bookends.
Normally, you can set the printer to print grayscale only from the driver properties page.
When sending your print job to the printer, you need to be sure to select "black and white", otherwise your computer will use your color ink cartridges to produce your gray scale image/document.
Now a days all HP ink catridges available at low price that means ink quantity is also low.So if you print heavy coloured pages it will deffinately consumes more ink.So print in gray scale or black and white consumes low ink. Compare to gray scale,black and white printing consumes very low ink. So print in black and white is the better choice.
either it could be set in the printer properties to print in gray scale or it could be the lens of the printer that needs replacement as if the lens go weak the prints come out very light.
