Lost connection of my HTC touch HD to the PC via USB Active Sync

Up until yesterday I could synchronize my HTC Topuch HD with my PC using activesync and USB cable. I have since not been able to achieve the connection. another HTC phone that I have does sync fine using same cable and computer. I have reset both the PC and the Phone to no avail. I can sincronize fine over the GPRS conection and can get my e mail etc. However cannot down/up load files thorugh the USB connection since it does not kick in the computers active sync.

For Windows XP:
You need to download the Microsoft ActiveSync from the following location:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync-download.mspx

Install it on your computer, connect the phone to computer u sing USB and ActiveSync will open up. Click on Explore button in ActiveSync and all the contents of your phone would be shown and you can copy/paste files as normal.

Everythings works fine except synchronization

1. Go to the settings.

2. From the options of Personal, System, & Connections, chose connections.

3. Tap on USB to PC icon.

4. Here lies the demon. There is a small box with lengthy explanation line (probably automatically ticked) which says "Enable faster data synchronization" you just need to uncheck it and tap on ok.

Now the activesync should start working.

HTC HD and MS Outlook Notes

Unfortunately, Notes are not available using Exchange ActiveSync, yet.

You have to tether your phone to a PC with Outlook and ActiveSync (XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista) installed.

Since mutiple ActiveSync partnerships are supported you can sync some things with Exchange and some with your PC.

If we are lucky Windows Mobile 7 and/or Exchange 2010 will make this possible.

.msi in HTC

Hi. You can download Microsoft ActiveSync through this adress: (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/ActiveSync-download.mspx) After you install this software, just plug your PDA into your computer with the USB cable, and run the .msi. After the installation completes within your computer, ActiveSync should run and install the software to your device also. Hope this helps.

Hi, my HD is connected to the computer via USB (visible in MY COMPUTER) but is never connected to WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE CENTER. i NEED TO SYNC MY CONTACTS, CAN I COPY OR MOVE FILES FROM OUTLOOK TO A...

No, it's very likely a software configuration option on your phone.

Goto: "Start | Settings | Connections | USB to PC" and clear the checkbox "Enable faster data synchronization". Don't forget to restart your phone afterwards.

Having that option "enabled" makes for faster (Explorer-like) file-transfers, but disables "ActiveSync", making the device a normal "USB storage device" without the sync extra features. Disabling the options re-enables the "ActiveSync".

I cant synchronize my HTC HD with windows vista business. i am receiving error message saying that synchronization cant be on windows vista. Any solution?

Hey

I had that problem too and that's the Windows Mobile problem.

Go on your Touch HD to: Start -> Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC -> and check Active Sync (synchronize with Outlook) and clear the checkbox "Enable faster data synchronization" and tap OK in the right screen corner.

You don't have to restart your device.

I think that this should help.

Cheers,
Sz.

Serious Issue re ActiveSync 4.5, HTC Touch, WM6

Try this, I read it on a microsoft.com forum.
Disconnect the device from the PC.
Open Activesync on the device.
Open the "Menu".
Click "Options"
Uncheck "E-mail" from Data you want to Sync.
Click "Done"
and re-sync devise to PC.

Once I did that, my contacts and all my appointments sync'd.
Hope that helps...
It seems tons of people have had this annoying issue.
