Have power but no heat

common issues that cause this:

Bad Diode that many units use.

Bad inverter circuit board that controls and is connected to the Magnetron.

Bad Magnetron that does the cooking.

My microwave oven quit heating . No error message or any other problem. all buttons work fine just no heat

If it has a turntable that does move it usually means one of three things bad:

1. A diode many use for power purposes for the heating.

2. A circuit board called an inverter that powers the heating and controls the Magnetron.

3. A Magnetron which does the actual heating.

Control board replacement

You may want to look at the following components on the circuit board and replace them as necessary. If there appears to be no power to the machine (clock), the machine may have received a power spike from an unclean/fluctuating power source. Look at resistor R5. If it shows any signs of heat damage, replace it. Then look at diode D3, which has been the cause of malfunction on my unit for four times already. Replace this diode (10V, 1.3W) and it should run again. This diode is working like an over-voltage protection fuse (which should have been built into this machine with easy access in the first place!) and since it gets fried so often on my unit I'm planning an illustrated writeup on how to mod the board to make exchanging this diode easier and without disassembling the machine.

The display on the Jandy RS8 says "AIR TEMP SHORT" The sensor is reading the same resistance as the water sensor, (interchangeable) When reading resistance across pin 5&6 it is not the same as reading...

If you replace the sensor and get the same code, there is only one option before replacing the board...This only works on a board with one (4 pin ) red connector terminal. If you have two it won't work. On the back of the board, directly behind the "air temp" wire terminals, there is a small black diode with a silver stripe. This is a redundant circuit and isn't necessary. AFTER you turn off the power to the board, you can cut this diode off with some dykes.

Same Problem, diodes fell out of bridge rectifier assembly

pulling to many amps, diodes could not handle amps so they failed.unit should have kicked its breaker before the diodes burned out.most units have their own breaker to protect the system.I would replace the control board first see how unit reacts, probly fine,if not the you go to next step.

GE microwaveJVM1410 won't heat food/ Everything else works

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part such as high-voltage rectifier diode

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and
replacement, and disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
