I'm responding to the comments on "Fios and Vizio no sound after I change the station" issue. I do not know if that is the same issue, but this was my resolution. I am new to FiOS. The first week I did not receive this issue. Verizon pushed a new feature to my DVR which to allowed me to view recording from my other DVR-HD. After this change, I started experiencing the volume issue. When I would change the channel (HD or standard), the volume would no longer play. In order for me to receive the volume again, I would have to turn off the STB and then press the 'Menu' button. This prevent me from viewing anything outside of the HD and standard channels. I called Verizon support again. Both the cable and the HMDI connections were going from the back of the STB into my TV. Verizon support indicated for me to remove the cable connection from the back of the TV to the STB. He stated the TV was confused and did not know which connection to handle. This guys was VERY GOOD ... Scott was his name. I haven't had any issues since.
SOURCE: VIZIO TV Black screen. Cannot turn off TV without unplugging.
I had a similar problem after having a Vizio for 2 and a half years. I
left the room for a minute, i came back and the screen went black. I didnt hear an arcing sound though.
There was still power to the unit and you could see that the back light
was working, just no picture, no sound, and you couldn't use any of the
buttons. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. It would then
start up, with the Vizio logo going from orange to white, and then do
the same thing all over, no pic or sound. I would check the ceramic fuse first on the board that gets power from the plug.
HOW I FIXED MINE: I ordered a new "main PCB" from tigerdirectparts.com
(you can also use searspartsdirect.com). This is the circuit board with
all of the inputs on it (hdmi, cable, etc.) I opened it up,
disconnected the old one, put in a new one and now it works fine.I used
both serial numbers on the board to search for it online. It cost me
$144 to do it, but that's better than $450 for a new TV. My tv is the
vx32l hdtv10a. I hope that helps.

There is an incompatibility between Fios and Vizio audio. To fix the problem, on the Fios box, press "Power" then "Select" then "Menu", one right after the other. This accesses a secret menu on the Fios box. Using the arrow keys on the front of your Fios box, arrow down to "Additional HDMI Settings" then press the right arrow. Another menu will appear (may take a few seconds). Arrow down to "Audio Out" and press the right arrow to change from "Auto" to "L-PCM". Press the Power button to exit the menu. This should solve your problem. Thanks to Vizio tech support for the answer.
