monitor old very very old. 13 years old in fact.
this is a CCFL back lamp old monitor
so is the back lamp dead, that it.
does a flash light pointed to the face show a working
front panel menu button OSD data now? this is first to do.
OSD is always first then check the backlamps for DEAD.
that green lamp actions are covered in the 1703 manual
did you read that ?
i guess you meant the green LED goes dead? suddenly>?
ill read it to you.

that is not some simple monitor no,
it has its own processor inside, and that needs power too.
it must convert VGA video RGB top LCD data., all non trivial.
page 7
Power Indicator: Green - Power On mode.
Amber - Power Saving mode.
Blank - Power Off Mode
so if it turns its self off
that means the Brain inside sees gross errors.
or the brain side lost power.
there are many tests.
in a pro show we check all power busses, if the black lamps work
the connect up i2c to the I2c port and scan it for errors
this is what we must do to see if the BRAIN inside sees gross errors.
there is no other ways. to do that.
or if connected the CCFL tubes the monitor turns off
well the CCFL tubes are shorted. and if are, then the brain
was correct to shut it off or risk a fire.
see? it really is very smart.
