Won't read regular dvd's

Never had an issue before. When regular disc is inserted, player spins and spins attempting to read but then says "disc error". No issue with bluray discs though. I did insert a cleaning disc and ran it, that did nothing. What can I do?

I had the same issues. I opened my player and cleaned the head with a alcohol pad. All is fine now.

I think local disc cannot read your DVD. Put quality disc into your DVD.

Is there an easy fix when the dvd keeps spinning and screen says loading but does not play?

You have to clean the dirt off the laser lens inside as it cant see the codes on the disc.Use a cleaning disc first or it will have to come apart to clean.

My Toshiba Blu-Ray player, BDX 2700, will start to load a movie but it stays at 00:00:00 and it won't continue or play. What's wrong?

either a mechanism problem---disc not turning etc or an electronic issue --someone would have to open the unit and insert a disc to see what is happening----also unlikely but possible the optical pickup that reads the discs is dirty or near failure---this will usually show up first on blu ray before a regular DVD.

DVD spinning slow and get a 'No Disc' message

Hello,
The problem sounds like the spindle motor is about to go out completely. If a disc does not spin or does not spin at it's proper speed the optical lens reading laser can not read the disc and you get a "no disc", or "disc not recognized" error message. On average a dvd will spin 3 times faster than a regular cd will. The following pictures will show you what these components look like.

Check around your local area to find what a service technician will charge to replace the part. On average it will usually cost between $60-90 dollars most of which is labor.

I hope this gives you some idea of what the problem is and how to solve it.

If you would not mind, please rate my help. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Reset you player by doing the following:
With the player on, hooked properly to your television, and on the correct station:
Open the tray
Close the tray (with no DVD inserted)
Hold the stop button down for a full 5 seconds
The CyberHome screen should appear. You should be able to play your dvd's now.

Make sure the disc is spinning. This might sound crazy but try turning the whole player upside down and see if it plays.

Dvd player will not spin disk

Unfortunately, your DVD player is broken. Portable units like these often get bumped and jostled and the motor that spins the DVD quits (very small and fragile). Sorry, I wish there were a magic button.
