Do I keep my old Kitchenaid extra capacity or keep the new GE GTWP1000

I have a kitchenaid top loader washer extra capacity that is at least 13 years old. It is beginning to rust in the bleach dispenser area but other than that I love it. I recently acquired a newer - 2-3 yr old washer possibly older but in storage for 5 years GE washer model above. I am concerned about capacity of the GE compared to the Kitchenaid and I can't find any documentation on the capacity of either. Can you help?

The GE has a capacity of 3.3 cubic feet. You did not list the model of the kitchenaid. Make sure the GE was stored correctly because if it might have lost oil or gotten brittle belts or gaskets. Also it might have frozen.

SOURCE: Bleach remains in bleach dispenser after washing and even after extra rinse cycle

I put the bleach in with the load right on top of the whites, so I dont have bleach left in the dispenser for the next load. Seems to work okay.

Ksm90 mixer won't unlock

Look for a reputable dealer that repairs KitchenAid mixers. It is worth the little extra money to keep it going well. I had a much needed repair 15 years ago...... it was 8 years old then, and it is still in great shape and working superbly!!

Washer Will Not Spin - Need to Replace Coupler?

Two Clips (about 6" long and held to the motor with 5/16" head screws) hold the motor and pump assembly in place. Another two hold the pump to the motor. To do this job you need not remove pump from motor.

This job is much more easily done if you remove the outer case from the machine. See Link below for service manual:

Washer Won't Spin / Drain. Need New Belt or Pump? Need Diagram?

based on feedback that i received on the forum, i realized that the washer doesn't have a belt (it's a direct drive machine). then, i replaced the motor coupler, which was a lot easier than i thought when i posted this question.

detailed instructions can be found on an excellent post by jsrock516 on fixya.com. even though the washer is labeled 'kitchenaid,' look for whirlpool, top-load washer, tips. then, search for replacing a motor coupler.

jsrock516's instructions look complicated, but they're really just a very detailed, step-by-step guide written so you don't need any pictures. read through them before you start, and then follow each step as needed. great stuff.

We have a 10 year old KitchenAid washing machine and tonight after it filled with water instead of working properly it made a wierd noise and didn't agitate. How much would it cost for someone to come and...

The KitchenAid is an excellent washing machine and I would recommend keeping it going as long as possible. The most probable cause is a broken motor couple and the cost to repair is around $100
