No store bought discs will play, both dvd and blu ray quickly say no disc but ones i burn on my computer work fine.

Sounds like it may need a software update. Quite common for dvd players. ring or contact where you bought it from or manufacturer and ask for instructions and obtaining files to update your player

As newer bluray movies come out they are constantly tweeking the format. More then likely you need to update your bluray players firmware or software. There should be an option under the menu for the bluray player to update the unit of course this will require that you have it hooked into the internet via ethernet cable or wifi network.

First confirm that the firmware update that you used is in fact for that very model.
Then check the region code for the discs in question.
Try the update again.

Blu Rays are more complicated from a information point of view--you most likely have either a dirty or bad (failing) optical pickup in the player--this always shows up first with blu rays.
