Disappearing picture! My tv will turn on, stays on for a few minutes, and then the picture is gone- all but a single line down the middle of the screen. The audio still plays, but no picture. What is this?

Well if this is a tube type, it can be attributed to vertical section. Cold solder on vertical IC, the vertical gone bad or some components on the vertical is at fault.
If your not on electronics better to have it check by a repairer.
The single line means that the vertical deflection doesn't work. And since it is working when you kick the tv or has warmed it's clearly a bad connection - open the case and reseat the wires going to the tube coil.
No, your picture tube is fine. This is a problem in the vertical circuit that deflects the beam up and down. This repair is fairly typical across most television brands and should not cost too much to fix. I don't want to quote another shops pricing but from us this would run about $150.00 to fix.
The vertical output ic needs re-soldered, look for a 5 pin ic connected to a heat sink near the flyback, re-solder the pins. If you are not up to this a local shop should be able to do this and it should not be an expensive tv repair.
I wouldn't attempt as the capacitors on a tv store around 25000 volts this is more than enough to kill you and they keep there charge even when the tv is off. Either take it to a repair shop or put that money towards buying a new tv - Do not even attempt to open the tv. (It sounds like maybe a tube has gone or the electromagnet that makes the beam move vertically is gone.
Since the set works initially, there are likely poor solder connections at the vertical IC. If this is not addressed soon, the IC will fail and need to be replaced. The vertical IC is a small flat IC with about 11 pins or so that may be marked LA7837 or something similar. Try resoldering the pins first. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace teh IC. Feel free to post the marking here so I can verify you have the correct one.
does any one can send me the schematic of TOSHIBA 32A40? I have a vertical problem and I need to locate the vertical IC or trancistor.
I only see a horizontal line on my Tv.
