HP Business inkjet 1200 Printer tells you it has run out of ink. Replaced cartridge and find it keeps printing later parts of document with part black part blue. Tried several re-used cartridges and finally a genuine HP, but still same problem.tried cleaning print head and base of cartridge area.Printer is 18 months old.
I have a HP Business Inkjet 1220 Printer, and the block ink cartridge light is flashing. I replaced the cartridge with a brand new one, closed the door, and black ink light is still flashing. I put in another neew black ink cartridge, closed the door, and same issue- black cartidge ink light flashing. I cannot print- what to do?
Not printing at all
The printhead was / has run out of ink and cannot print the black. Replace the printhead and you should be good to go. I had the same problem with the HP 1200DTN only mine was printing a purple color instead of black. New printhead corrected problem immediately.
I'm not real clear on what your problem is. If I understand it right, your black and blue cartridges are out of wack. Have you tried a printhead alignment?
ok...I would try cleaning the encoder strip:
Open the printer and see if you can look along where the carriage moves back and forth. There should be what looks like a clear plastic strip or 'mylar' behind it that runs along the length of the printer.
This mylar has tiny lines in it (too small for us to see.) The carriage contains a sensor that looks through the mylar (the mylar is called an encoder strip) to find out where it is. If you can see the encoder strip, wipe it with a slightly damp rag. Be careful not to bend or kink it. If it is warped, it is probably shot. Then move the carriage all the way to the other side and wipe what you couldn't get at.

Thanks. Yes I have tried all the allignment and cleaning scenarios to no avail. The frustrating thing is it sometimes prints OK if the unit is left awhile but after a few pages starts going to bits of blue rather than black.
I got a true HP cartridge (heaps of money) from Staples. It had aproblem at first but settled after a few hours and is now working fine. Apparantly the ink has to settle for some time in the upright position.

I used genuine Kodak print cartridges. Kodak 7.1 does not print after installing new print cartridge and cleaning heads
My hp 5515 runs but does not print or copy i do not see a handle to lift out printer head for cleaning
I tried to print a document but nothing will come out. I have tried to turn it on and off, I have tried to replace the ink cartridges, and it still keeps blinking a green light.
It prints blank and not in black. I have tried tried cleaning the print head manually and automatically and it still comes out blank.
