SOURCE: Blinking light but no ring sound on incoming calls
This is a phone system phone and each station you want to ring when a certain phone line rings has to be programmed into the system. This is not something you can change at the phone itself. You will either need to pay a company to make programming changes or locate a programming and installation manual for your phone system (not the phone) and try to re-program it yourself. If you have not done this before it will not be easy but it may be worth the effort so you can continue to make your own changes instead of paying someone $200 per hour to do it for you. There is also the remote possibility your phone's ringer is broken. You can try swapping your phone with another of the same type and model to see if it will ring.

You will have to get into the programming mode and change Memory Block 4-01 for the port of each phone you want to ring. The corresponding light for the button is OFF for no ring, GREEN for ringing, and RED for delayed ringing.

Jennifer209, if you press FEATURE + the button VM is pre-programmed on what does it display? It should show the extension number pilot to VM. If you call it directly, what happens? If you get no answer calling it directly, your VM may be down.
Kaait, is it getting into the VM that's the problem, or doing things inside the mailbox that is the problem?

The telephone instrument you have can be used on the NEC Electra Professional Level I, and the Level II systems (and under some conditions the NEAX 2000 series). Codes for features are somewhat different based on the system. It is possible that your phone is in "Do-Not-Disturb" if other phones on your system actually ring when they are called via the intercom (on the Level I and Level II systems, initial intercom ring is a system wide setting). The cancel DND code is:
Level I system: with telephone idle, press <FNC>, dial 60, press <FNC>.
Level II system: with telephone idle, press <FNC>, dial 69, press <FNC>.
It is also possible that your ring volume is very low. To adjust, press <SPKR>, dial 601, then adjust volume using the up/down keys at the bottom of the phone (press <SPKR> when finished.
If your system is programmed to access an outside line when you press <SPKR>, you will need to press the <INTERCOM> button first.)
If your system is set for voice intercom, people calling your phone can make it ring by dialing a "1" after your intercom number.
If you do all this and your phone still won't ring on incoming calls, let me know and we'll have to go into system programming to correct it.
