Can someone please advise as to the time zone information. Can not find my paperwork on this clock, and I need to make sure the clock is set with the correct time zone. Can anyone assist. I live in AZ (MST) and we do not recoginze Daylight Saving Time,
Using the Emerson CKD5809C manual (also with SmartSet(tm) ),
try Zone 4. TIME ZONE button: "04".
Zone 1: Atlantic Time
Zone 2: Easter Time (Default)
Zone 3: Central Time
Zone 4: Mountain Time
Zone 5: Pacific Time
Zone 6: Yukon Time
Zone 7: Hawaiian Time
As for disabling the Daylight Saving Time (DST) time change I have some guesses to
try (not having one of these radios in my hand) or just skip to #4 below.
1. Manually setting the time and see if this disables the
DST change.
2.Is there a Zone
setting other than above? Like maybe a Zone 0? And then manually set the time.
3.Look at http://www.fixya.com/support/t236208-daylight_savings_time_adjustment
for my solution there and try adjusting the DST Start to the same as DST End or
DST Start and End with a month of 0 (if that is possible).
4.Or for the really desperate,
change the Zone to 5 during DST and back to 4 during standard time (no worst
off than with no DST auto setting.)(After
I wrote this, I found an Emerson reference to no DST areas, Saskatchewan in
this case, in the CKS1850C manual http://www.emersonelectronics.ca/emerson/en/product/details/2383,
pg 9, and this is their solution.)
It appears that the model CKS2288B is of an old design. I bought mine four + years ago. There is an addendum for the newer models that covers reseting DST to the new dates (2007 forward). However the CKS2288b does not respond to the instrictions in the addendum.

To correct the time on your Sharp Atomic clock, you will need to reset the time zone. To do this, press and hold the "Time Zone" button for 3 seconds until the time zone flashes. Then, press the "Hour" and "Minute" buttons to adjust the time zone to the correct time zone. Once the time zone is set, press the "Time Zone" button again to save the settings. The clock should now be displaying the correct time.
Setting The Time, The First Time IMPORTANT: The first time you connect your new SmartSet clock radio to the AC outlet the internal computer will automatically set the time correctly for the Eastern Time Zone, which is the initial default setting. The display will scan for a few seconds and then show the correct Day and Time in the Eastern zone. If you live in the Eastern Time zone, there's nothing else to do. Your clock is set correctly and running. If you do not live in the Eastern Time zone you must change the default zone display to your own zone. You only do this one time and the SmartSet will remember the new default zone setting and will always return to that setting after a power interruption. There are 7 time zones programmed into your SmartSet clock radio as follows: ZONE 1 - Atlantic Time ZONE 2 - Eastern Time (Default Setting) ZONE 3 - Central Time ZONE 4 - Mountain Time ZONE 5 - Pacific Time ZONE 6 - Yukon Time ZONE 7 To c h a n g e t h e d e f a u l t t i m e z o n e d i s p l a y, depress the TIME ZONE button. I couldn't figure out how to change the time zone because I didn't have the manual. Here's how to change time zone:
1. On top of clock you hold down time zone button
2. Push the up or down button to change the time zone. There are 7 time zones. The clock is set at zone 2 -Eastern Standard time. My zone is 3 -Central Time - I then had to manually set the correct time -(I'm not sure why but I did that) To test if the time zone worked properly I switched the time zones and the time on the clock adjusted automatically to the associated time for that area. I, of course, moved it back to zone 3 and the correct time for central time was displayed. I am waiting to see if the time properly adjust when time the DST changes. Appparently the problem could be with your location, or just that there may be a delay before time correction until the old date - check again the link to amazon i posted before - there are a couple of new reviews that discusss the daylight saving issue, also -
The US clock says;
"I have a radio controlled clock that receives NIST time. Will the new rules affect me?
Your radio controlled clock should automatically implement the new DST rules. The WWVB broadcast contains information that tells your clock whether DST or ST is currently in effect. NIST always sends this information to agree with the current DST rules, so your clock should change automatically on the day of the change, just as it has in previous years. If the time is wrong after the DST change, make sure that your clock has recently received the time signal. Many radio controlled clocks have a synchronization indicator that will tell you if your clock has recently synchronized. If the clock isn't receiving the signal, click here for some tips on improving reception. If it has received the signal recently, check to make sure that the clock's time zone setting is set properly. Also, if you live in an area where DST is not observed (Arizona, for example), you need to disable the automatic DST function on your clock.
I have a non-radio controlled clock that used to automatically correct itself for DST. Will it still work?
The only way to find out is to wait and see, or to contact the manufacturer of the clock. There are a large number of non-radio controlled clocks, marketed under names like "AUTOSET" or "SMARTSET" that have internal firmware that automatically changes the time by one hour on the transition days to and from DST. These clocks do not connect to a NIST time service, and some of them will no longer work properly due to the DST rule change. For example, clocks manufactured prior to the rule change will probably not switch to DST in March, but will wait until April in accordance with the old rule. If you have a clock like this that fails due to the new rules, your only recourse is to adjust the clock manually, or to contact the manufacturer and ask for an upgrade or a replacement.
