Hi, every time I open the battery/sd card compartment I have to reset the date and time when the camera is turned on again. It didn't always do this. How can I change it?
I don't think you can change this. For time keeping, there is a little rechargeable battery in the camera. It will take about 12 hours for the battery to become fully charged, if everything is normal. If the little battery is gone, the camera can't keep up the time, causing your trouble. Please check with Nikon, what it will cost if they can repair this. To expensive? start saving for a new camera.
At least I think you gave the little battery enough time to charge. It would be bad, to remove the battery every time you stop shooting. Leave the main battery in the camera for at least one day and check again.

Try resetting your camera. In picture taking mode press menu. Go to setup, go up to reset, press right arrow, make sure reset is highlighted and press set.
Then TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD. Go back into menu, go to setup, go up to format, press right arrow and highlight format, press set. Input ur date and time again and then power off and back on. If that doesn't help then you have to send into repairs. 800-706-2534 and keep choosing option 2 and they will tell you where to send it.

Either the replacement battery was dead or the camera needs to be serviced. If the date/time needs to be reset every time the camera powers up, the camera is not receiving the power it needs from the date battery.

Hi I found this info on the Nikon Australia website:
"System Error" or "Lens Error" message in LCD monitor
Question
My COOLPIX camera displays a "System Error" or "Lens Error" message. What should I do?
Answer
Having a "System Error" or "Lens Error" message displayed on the camera's LCD monitor would generally indicate that your camera needs servicing.
A System Error is a general error which can be caused by many things: lens problem, CF Card problem, general camera failure, etc. To troubleshoot, please try the following:
On the other hand, a Lens Error generally means that an error has occured during the lens operation. To troubleshoot, please try the following:

Seems you may just have to remove and replace the battery - sort of like a Windows Restart to fix a computer problem! - this would reset your camera's memory.
Hope this helps.

Locate the button behind the shutter release button with the green dot next to it. Locate the button at the back lower hand side of the D60 with the green dot next to it. Press both buttons at the same time.........This resets the D60 to its original settings and should resolve the problem.....
