Question about LG WM0642H Front Load

1 Answer

I have a LG WT5001CW top load washer. Recently the agitator plate began to loosen and fall off during spin cycle. Now when spin cycle starts and the tub turns it squeaks and grinds then I get a UE alarm.

The agitator has a gear like attachment that meets the long shaft up the center of the tub. If the alignment is off and not exactly in place the agitator will move or the gear-like part will wear down, become rounded, or break. The agitator must fit perfectly and tight. A nut on top (under the cap) has to be turned down tight.

Well the problem I'm having now is it will not finish a spin cycle. It will begin grinding and squeaking and shut down. I even took the plate out and tried it again but had the same results. I was thinking bearings may have went bad but I kind of wanted to be sure before I tore it apart.

They use permanent lubricated bearings, not with ball bearings and they rarely go bad. You may get the unit apart, but in the long run end up with a pile of junk. If its worth it, have it serviced by an authorized technician.

Any idea what else it could be? Maybe the coupler? I wouldn't think the clutch would be going out if it operates fine until it begins spin cycle.

SOURCE: "UE" error code LG washer wm0642hw

This is an Imbalance code. Your issue may be with:

  • The load is too small
  • The appliance is tilted
  • Laundry is gathered to one side
  • Non-distributed things are put into the drum
Try adjusting the load size, and make sure the unit is level.

SOURCE: My lg Tromm front load

these units have had alot of problems especially if it is on a pedistal ...they won't admit this is a problem but i have been a lg servicer for over 4 years now and see it everyday ...the unit has a stator on the rear of the tub and on the stator is a device called a hall sensor that goes bad very often... it is what controls the spped and balance of the tub..if the load starts getting unbalanced the hall sensor will tell the motor controller to slow the speed down... most likely this is your problem.... good luck please vote

I have a LG top load washer, model WT5001CW that makes a grinding sound during agitation cycle but not during spin. Drains like it's supposed to. Any ideas?

This sounds like you have a problem with the tub suspension rods (4 of them) if one is faulty, you will have to replace all four of them to cure the problem.
It could be that they just need to be realigned as the grinding sound is the inner tub contacting the outer tub housing.

I have an LG model WF-T7015TP Turbodrum top-loader automatic washing machine. Having problem in that the drum does not agitate to and fro during the washing cucle. It's draining fine and even spin-drying...

check the agitator module unit and the start capacitor both in the back of the control panel One controls the agitation and the other starts the motor. If the start capacitor is failed simply replace it with a new one The agitator module will cost more . Have an appliance electrician check it out.

Limited agitation during wash cycle Load Sense OK

Possible that the program selected is an easy wash as this is meant for daily wash , less soiled clothes.
If however the same situation is present in all the cycles then the capacitor to the motor must be checked as it can reduce the speed of the motor.
Also check the belt , check for friction on the drum spindle and the motor.

Washing machine will not agitate but it spins.

The brakes are shot,so the tub spins in agitate will also cause it to leak part number R0000014 run about $25.
Look straight up from the bottom pulley you will see the brake assy looks kinda like a clutch plate, look around the outer edge of that you'll see the Pads they have two 3/8 inch bolts in each one,to get the new ones in you'll have to use a screw driver to open the plate.

Washer won't agitate or spin out.

Well it is ethier Belt, Cluch ,motor ,Or transmission. But it does sound like your transmission . The loud clunk is the brake in the gear case ( Trans.). It might have broken off.

The inside of your agitator became worn, and possible strip out the spline that allows the agitator to properly grip the shaft. The loud noise mustly occurs during the spin cycle. If you hear this loud noise your load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it.

Agitator fall off and knocking noise during spin cycle

there should be a rubber washer with the bolt. if it is missing the bolt may back of during agitation. also the threads on the transimision may be stripped. Some Green lock tight found in most hard ware stores should help. the knocking noise is probably due the agitator coming loose.
