How do i replace drain pump and hoses - LG WT4801CW Top Load Washers

The following are a number of things to check for the OE (drain error) indication.
If the washer does not drain then the drain pump may be clogged, damaged, or defective.
Sometimes, socks and other small articles of clothing can get into the drain system and clog the pump hose or the pump itself. Open the drain pump filter tray at the lower left of the machine and check whether it is clean, check also that the pump impeller spins freely. Remove the hoses from the pump and check for any obstructions.
First, check the drain hose to determine if it is kinked, twisted, or bent. If the drain hose is bent, straighten it out. In addition, remove the drain hose and check it for obstructions. If the drain hose has any obstructions, try to remove them. If necessary, replace the drain hose.
Check the machine's water level frequency by pressing the WASH/RINSE + DELAY WASH buttons simultaneously. Check the reading on the display, if it is below 260 (26 Khz) then have someone measure the resistance of the pump motor coil.
It should be between 10-20 Ohms resistance, if too high or too low, replace the pump assembly as it cannot be repaired.

You do not need to replace the whole drain pump. The black drain hose is attached to the drain pump and secured with a hose clamp. If the clamp is not further down the drain hose, inside the unit on the base or has not fallen underneath the washer it can be replaced with a hose clamp from a hardware store. You will need the diameter of the hose to get the correct size. Rather than using a standard screwdriver to tighten the clamp a 1/4" or 5/16" nut driver or socket works much better. Make sure you unplug the appliance before working on it and have towels handy in case of water spills

If the washer won't drain there might be a clogged pump or hose. It's common for small socks or other small clothing items to get into the water drain system and clog the hose leading to the pump or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump in order to remove the article of clothing. Keep in mind that any water in the washer will pour out of the hoses when removed. Also check drain hose.

Remove the Top Panel, fastened by 2 screws at the back, Then remove the right Side Panel, you should see the Drain Pump attached to the sump. To test it, you could attach direct power to the two pins on it (Alternating current, so position of connectors unimportant). If it works, it could be either that it is not receiving power from the PC Board, or the sump is clogged inside (Filter).

This one sounds like the drain pump is damaged or the drain hose is damaged or detached causing water to drain on the floor instead of through the drain hose. Disconnect power then tape the washer lid closed and lay the machine on its front on a cushioned surface to access the drain pump and the drain hose connections at the bottom of the tub. Reattach the drain hose if detached or replace it if damaged and cannot be reattached to the drain pump. Replace the drain pump if damaged and leaking water on the floor.

You use your dishwasher so often with no problems that any issue can seem like a major disaster. 1. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher. Turn off the dishwasher's power supply by unplugging it (under the sink) or turning off the appropriate circuit breaker.
   
2. Pull the dishwasher all the way out from the cabinet so you can access the drain hose and pump near the back.
   
3. Locate the drain pump and hose. The drain hose is the larger of the two hoses attached to the dishwasher and is generally located close to the bottom back of the dishwasher.
   
4. Place a shallow dish under the drain pump. Loosen the clamp on the drain hose close to the drain pump, using pliers or a screwdriver. Pull the drain hose off of the pump, allowing any water to drip into the dish below.
   
5. Remove the other end of the drain hose from the garbage disposal or drain by loosening the hose clamp and pulling the hose off of the connection.
   
6. Attach the replacement hose to the drain pump and the drain or garbage disposal. Attach new hose clamps, and tighten them to hold them in place.
   
7. Turn the power and water back on, and run the dishwasher through a cycle to make sure that the dishwasher drains properly and the hose doesn't leak. Tighten the hose clamps if you find any leaks.

The drain hose and recirculation hoses can be responsible for leaks. The drain hose can cause the dishwasher to fail to drain properly. The recirculation hose can be responsible for problems with poor rinsing of dishes.

To access the drain hose remove the lower panel located beneath the door. The panel is usually held in place with two screws either above or below the panel. It may be necessary to first open the door to the dishwasher to reach the screws over the panel, then close the door to remove the panel.

The drain hose connects to the pump and runs to the sink drain (or to the air gap on top of the sink). The pump has a second hose that recirculates the water back into the dishwasher. The drain hose is roughly 1 1/2 inches in diameter. While inspecting the drain hose, check the recirculation hose as well for blockages.

When checking for leaks, feel the hoses where they connect to the pump, for wetness and check the ground right under the connections. If they are wet, it may be a loose or improperly mounted clamp, a damaged pump housing or a leak in the hose itself.

When checking for blockages, disconnect the drain hose from the pump, pinch the wire clamp with pliers and slide it up the hose. Place a shallow pan beneath the pump to catch any spillage. Remove the hose from the pump; wiggling the hose may help to loosen it.

Check the hose and nipple to the pump for any debris. The only way to be certain the drain hose is completely clear is to disconnect it from the sink and run water through (such as spraying a garden hose through it at full pressure). Disconnect the recirculation hose and check it in the same way.

Reconnect the hoses and replace the clamps. Replace the lower panel and restore electricity to the dishwasher.

Now, if the hoses were not blocked, move on to the pump.

Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher will not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

The final area of concern will be the Air gap.

If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher will not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.
