Same thing happened to me. I unplugged the refrigerator, plugged it back in and it worked. I guess the computer system reset itself. Easy fix.

Whirlpool bottom freezer ice maker will only make ice if I pull and then replace the ice container, why?

The ice maker works off a timer that controls the discharge of ice, water fill, etc. Right before the tray discharges ice it is heated slightly so the ice is just slippery enough to discharge the ice. Unfortunately, now and then (for us) a chunk of ice remains in the tray. This chunk prevents the blades from rotating and eventually you have a mass of new ice with the blades in the wrong position. The blades have to be in a certain position for the heater to kick in. You are stuck with cracking up the ice stuck in the tray to get the blades to rotate again. We have an Electrolux ice maker but this problem occurs periodically. The root of the problem is it's failure to heat up the ice tray adequately to discharge ALL the ice. One thing to remember is that next time this happens you have to manually break up the ice in the tray and push the timer advance button until the 2 set of blades are fully closed (hidden) and at 90 degrees. From that point on at least the ice maker can start making more ice.

I have a problem with a GE Profile PSS26PSSASS. The ice maker barely makes any ice. The ice that is made, is melting, dripping, creating icicles in the freezer, and then re-freezing in the ice bin as a...

Push the white paddle in three times slowly within 15 seconds. Then wait 2 minutes. You should see the ice maker start to cycle. If the ice maker doesn't cycle, replace the ice maker. If you need a new ice maker, you can go to the link below

The Ice maker does not make cubes.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

If it overfills and drips, look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water.

If it continuously drips, replace the water inlet valve on the back where the house water supply comes in.

Ice maker drips water into ice tray

Probably the solenoid valve leaks(electric valve that opens when the ice maker calls for water) and overflood the ice maker, the only way to fix this is replacing the solenoid.

Water Leaks from Ice Maker of Sub-Zero 642

Sounds like the water inlet valve to icemaker is leaking - not closing completely after filling the tray. Rare, but possible. Prove it by shutting off icemaker arm or switch. If that is the cause, the drip will continue.
If dripping stops when I/M is off, then it is ice blockage in I/M fill tube and or diverter funnel at end of ice tray. Remove I/M, clean ice from both, and re-assemble.
Replacing that valve (water supply to refrig connects to it in the back) should solve it.

Ice Maker Freezing Up and Ice not dispensing

Check your ice cube tray to see if it is warped. Mine was. I took the tray off and dipped it into boiling water and remoulded it to the original shape and re-installed it. So far no problems. The tray gets warped because of the ice cube release mechanism. The tray is rotated around until it meets a block on one corner which creates the twisting motion we used to do on manual trays. Over time it tends to warp the tray. Good luck

Ice maker leaking

Sometimes the frozen chunk of ice in the back of your ice tub is caused by the tub being overfilled. The ice cubes pile up so high that they come in contact with the defrost heating element in the bottom of the ice maker. This melts the already formed cubes and form a blob of ice in the rear of the tub.

If the "icicle" is forming even when the tub is relatively empty, then it is probably a leaking solenoid valve. This is an electric water valve that opens and closes according to demand. Like any valve, it has seats that eventually leak, especially in areas with hard water. This will need to be replaced. Water filters go a long way in increases the usefaul life span of the valve and will also improve the ice quality.
