HDMI port bent

For the Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5105, HDMI is an option.

If present, believe it to be on the Left side, same as the VGA port.

User Manual states plug external monitor device into laptop, then turn external monitor device on.
External monitor device should automatically be seen by laptop.

If not press, and hold down on the Fn key, and at the same time, tap on the F4 key until the display option you want is shown. Then press the Enter key.

Touchscreen?
That requires a knowledge of Windows 8, which I do not have a full understanding of yet. The User Interface of Windows 8.

It isn't stated by Toshiba, (At least that I could find), as to if the HDMI port; is just that. An HDMI port, or a Mini-Port HDMI port,

There are HDMI adapters, and HDMI cables; that adapt from regular HDMI to Mini-Port HDMI.

There are adapters that connect to a VGA port, and convert to an HDMI port.

Also to add;

You may want to remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
Then see if you can use something like a computer pick, and get that bent contact out of the way. Out of the way from touching any other contacts.

This way you should be able to use the laptop again, but without the HDMI port usage.

If it has a VGA port, use a VGA to HDMI adapter, and use your HDMI cable, and HDTV again.

no, the board it is on is sold as a unit---I have seen several techs try to replace the socket---there are some sites on the internet that stock by model number all the boards Google Samsung boards/parts.

The only other option I see is connect the set via another input like component--that connector and the board are history.

They are USB ports. A USB cable plugs into them.

Left side of the laptop? 2nd port back from the Front?
It is an HDMI port. An HDMI cable plugs into it,

Plug an HDMI cable into it, then to an HDMI port on an HDTV that has this port.
X-Box, PlayStation, and Wi uses an HDMI cable, and plugs to this port on the laptop.
Just some of the uses.

To connect an HDMI cable to your laptop, find the HDMI port on your computer. Take your HDMI cord, and plug it in. Then plug the other side into a TV. The laptop should automatically duplicate the screen onto the TV. If the video does not automatically duplicate, right click on your desktop background, and select "screen resolution." Select the second display, and set the Multiple display option to duplicate these displays.. If your audio is not coming through, right click on your volume control, and select "Playback Devices." Then set your HDMI as the default playback device.
Bare in mind that these instructions are specific for a Windows 7 laptop that has an HDMI port.

I just purchased a new toshiba and the hdmi port is on the left side and its the third port in from the end. i noticed on alot of toshibas i looked at thats where they are located.

Have you tried a new hdmi cable. They break easily

Ur Laptop have USB ports?Ur tv have HDMI ports? Use the HDMI cable plug in the USB port in the laptop side,plug the other end to the the tv HDMI port with the other side.

There is a hdmi port on the left hand side of your dell laptop. Get a hdmi cord and plug it in.

Check that there isn't something jambed into the charger plug itself. When it fits into the charger port, most ports have a power pin running down the middle of them. The opening in the middle of the charger plug runs over that power pin. If the pin has broken off the power port or has been bent over, it will keep the plug from entering. Also, on the sides of the power ports there is a small strip of metal that touches the charger plug when it enters the port. Make sure that these are not sticking out too far to keep the plug from entering. I would check to make sure that the charge plug is not plugged up.
