I have philips model #42pf13704df7 when I turn it on it stays on couple second then it turns it self off, I have to turned on again and again until it finally stays on and sometimes it goes off again

I tried to find out if this is an LCD screen type or Plasma or DLP, but I couldn't find a straight answer. The only info I could find was several links all leading to your questions about the problem, which means you must have one or more of the models numbers wrong. Anyway, you have the symptoms of a DLP bulb going bad. _IF_ it is a DLP, then for sure that's your problem. The bulb is quitting. If it's a Plasma, then it's the beginning of the end for it; (the plasma display is getting ready to quit for good). If it is an LCD, then I've never heard of one doing that, so I don't have an answer; other than the power supply kicking out, but they usually quit for good pretty fast after the first couple of times. Sounds like a bad bulb in a DLP TV or a bad plasma display in a plasma TV.

Sound no picture

Like stated before--May be another bad blub, especially if you used a generic or Neolux one. A phillips bulb WILL work right. Mits sets do NOT like generic bulbs !!

Humming noise tv makes

The hum comes from a bad 60 cycle bleed into the audio circuit usually from a bad capacitor or other failed component. It will need to go to a television shop for service, but I would recommend replacement. $500 and you have a new TV verses $400 and you still have the same old worn out unit. The other cause could be you have the audio and video cables reversed on a video input.

Green light stays on, while the tv has black screen? and stays on for 2mins and than black screen come on, than 20secs later turns on again and this happens repeately

if its a rear projection it could be the light bulb is bad or blown. You can get ideas of what the lights mean at sony. If its the light don't buy one from Pure Glare. com They send out bad or blown bulbs.

I have a Mitsubishi dlp WD62625 tv and I had a new bulb installed in Nov. 2010 by a tv repairman. After installation he re-set the tv but the yellow/red light wouldn't go off. So everytime I turn the tv on...

the bulb wire go to the ballast board, they do wear out over time but is usually down to capacitors, also depending on how much you watch the tv its about time to change the bulb as they only last a certain amount of time any way. when the tv is reset properly it will count down on time used. from new bulb. its only an estimate, if you are having difficulties seeing the screen the bulb is on its way out.

TV won't stay on

One of two things can be the problem...one the bulb is bad...two the ballast is bad. If the bulb is not bad then the ballast is...it can usually be fixed by replacing a resistor on the board itself...it is labeled R3 and is a 1000 ohm resistor
