My 1988 Kawasaki KX80 is reving up loud and it wont cut off but the throttle is not stuck.

With the engine turned off, open and close the throttle let go of the twistgrip as the slide decends to the bottom of the carb, you should here a cosmetic clang as the slide hits the bottom of the carb, make sure you have lots of free play in the addjuster on the cable at the carb end, undo the idle screw all the way allowing the slide to travel further down now start the engine and check if the engine still races if the engine stops when you let loose the twist grip, slowly addjust the idle screw till the correct tickover is obtained, if this does not correct the problem, remove the slide from the carb noteing the cutaway in the bottom of the slide, this must face to the rear away from the engine, forward facing would cause the engine to race as the cutout is to let air in to the rear, when facing front it will let exsess fuel in

I have a 1981 yahama 850 midnight special. It has been sitting for 3 years. I tore apart the carbs and cleaned them. After putting everything back together the middle carb is leaking gas out of the two...

Is it poss to remove the float bowl while the carbs are fitted to the bike? I am fairly sure back in the eightys the float was addjustable, to controll the fuel level by bending slightly the metal tab on the float, when the bowl is removed check the level of fuel in the bowl and compare it to that in the others, the aim is to make the fuel flow stop at the correct level in the carb(by bending the float tab) while the bowl is off turn on the fuel push the float all the way up check if the fuel flow stops, also check the condition of the sealing washer around the float needle seating.

This is for an 1979 Honda CBX. I installed new float needles and seats. Also, I adjusted float levels to factory specs. All carbs are still flooding.

I PRESUME YOU THOROUGLY CLEANED THE FLOAT NEEDLE SEAT?AND INSPECTED THE NEEDLES FOR LIKENESS COMPARED TO THE OLD ONES, SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO IGNORE THE FACTORY SETTINGS PLACE THE CARBS ON THE BENCH WITH A FUEL SUPPLY CONNECTED AND ADDJUST EACH FLOAT UNTILL THE LEVEL OF FUEL IS BELOW THE OVERFLOW TUBE ALLOWING ENOUGH ROOM FOR THE FLOATS SO THAT THE LEVEL STILL LYES BELOW THE TUBE WHEN FULLY ASSEMBLED, COMPLETE THIS TEST BEFORE FIXING THEM TO THE BIKE, WHEN YOU ARE HAPPY REPLACE THEM BACK ON THE BIKE,

PS IS THE NEEDLE SEAT AVAILIBLE SEPERATLY MAYBE WORTH INVESTING INSOME NEW 1S IF THEY DO

YOU COULD HAVE THE CARBS ULTRASONICALY CLEANED

Hi if you lift the tank, where the cables fit. Onto the throttle body, inthe middle of the cam as you shut the throttle you will see where the cam hits the rest, you will see a screw this is connected by a long wire to an addjusting screw, follow it untill you find the addjusting screw normaly on lefthand. Side just above front sprocket cover, turn in a clockwise direction to increase the speed and anticlockwise to slow the engine speed down

My bike is going into gear and revving but not engaging to pull away

IT MAYBE SOMETHING QUITE SIMPLE LIKE, NO FREE PLAY AT CLUCH LEVER, YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 5 MM PLAY AT THE LEVER, THAT IS THE AMOUNT OF FREE MOVMENT YOU CAN PUL IN THE CLUTCH BEFORE ANY PRESSURE IS FELT, HAVE YOU BEEN ADDJUSTING THIS, DOES THE LEVER FEELVERY SPRINGY, IF SO BACK OF THE ADDJUSTER AND GIVE YOURSELF SOME FREE PLAY, PORELY ADJUSTED CONTROLS CAN CAUSE THE CLUTCH TO BURN OUT IF THIS OCCURED WHILE RIDEING THE MACHINE IT MAY BE THE CLUTCH PLATES HAVE FAILED, REMOVE OIL FILLER PLUG, A BURNING SMELL WILL BE NOTICED IN SOME CASES, FURTHERMORE, REMOVE THE FRONT SPROCKET COVER AND CHECK THE RETAINING DEVICE HAS NOT COME AWAY ALOWING THE SPROCKET TO COME OF THE SPLINED SHAFT, OR EVEN ROUNDED THE CENTRE OF THE SPROCKET CAUSING DRIVE FAILURE.

I have a John Deere LT133 w/13hp Kohler motor. Problem

I had the same mower in my shop with the same prob. Last week, here is what i did to correct the problem, take the fuel line apart at the fuel filter, open the fuel cap and drain the gas from the tank, once it stops i took couple old walmart bags and compressed air to slowly blow air in to the tank to blow the residue and trash out of the fuel tank. Next using compressed air to blow through the fuel line from where the filter was toward the carb. Next unbolt the carb and remove the fuel bowl, take the small pin holding the float out and slowly remove the float pulling strait up as the needle will be attached via a small channel on the float. There is where you will find the seat which the needle you extracted sets in to stop or allow the fuel to flow. Clean these parts and area WELL. i usually take the air screws out and use carb cleaner to clean those areas as well. Reinstall the needle and float, pin assembly and the bowl. Reinstall the carb , and make SURE to install a new fuel filter not exceeding the last filters micron flow, double check all connections, clamps, and hardware, add new FRESH gasoline with no less than 89 octane at any time, engine should fire and run as intended.
