Technika X22 14B lcd screen went blank lower half for a short time then the full screen went blank, still got sound. Checked on start, DVD cycles sound from speakers then backlights come on for 1 / 2 seconds no visible picture then backlights switch off. Changed Inverter as cheapest option but TV still has the same fault, any suggestions Please.

You need to replace the inverter board if you can find the spare part. Otherwise you need to replace the whole lcd panel.

There could be two possible failures:
1. The backlights are defective (not a common failure for a 14 months old LCD) or the backlights driver/inverter is defective.
2. Power supply failure(very common failure on LCDs) will cause the symptoms you described.

You will either have a fault with the inverter board which drives the backlights or a faulty backlight in the screen. If the problem is a backlight then a replacement screen is the only cure. One or the other is breaking down after it has been opn for a certain period of time, have an engineer call out & check with a tester if it is a screen problem.
