Probably a bad timer. $100 + for part alone.

Grinding noise in spin cycle

It sounds like the drain pump needs replacing, its bearings have failed or there is something from the wash jammed in it. But before you buy a new one, get the machine checked by an expert in case lots of parts are damaged.

Kenmore Heavy Duty Series 70 washing machine gets stuck in cycle.

Either your timing motor has broken or the gears that it drives are stripped. The timing motor is easy to replace but if the gears are stripped you will need a whole new dial assembly.

Will not drain or go into spin cycle

Definetly the lid switch has been knocked out of place or has gone bad.

Won't drain or spin

the timer may need to be replaced.. it might not be clicking on the spin cycle. try moving the dial manually to the spin mode.

Washing machine does not spin

If the unit is making noise while set to spin but not spinning replace the motor coupling for the fix.
If the unit is silent when set to spin replace the lid switch for the fix.
Both are very common and not expensive plus easy to find online with the model number under the lid. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ultimate II is refusing to go into agtation/wash cycle

It sounds like a bad timer unit, and possibly a lid switch.

As far as the water overfilling, that may be an unrelated problem, such as the water level switch... but most likely the timer.

I have the same model, and it wouldn't drain.. and it would try to spin when full of water... an interesting sight to see!

Whirlpool filling and washing, not draining, rinsing or spinning

Check out your outlet filter, probable it is clogged. Clean this out and refit. Most cases when the drain or spin does not work, it is the filter. This is a suggestion.
