The alarm goes off every time i use the key to unlock my 2006 PT cruiser

I assume you are using the key because the fob no longer works. Put a new battery in it and see if it works. If not you will need to have the key and fob reset to work with the vehicle. The vehicle should not sound the alarm when you use the key. I assume the key still starts the engine but something is wrong that it doesn't recognize the key in the door. Take care of it soon or it may not start the engine just when you really need to go somewhere.

Troubleshooting a car alarm is relatively easy. You don't even need any tools or manuals to figure out what's wrong. Though car alarms are meant to protect the safety of your car, they can sometimes provide problems of their own. With these simple steps, you can find out what the issue is and attempt to fix it. Common car alarm issues include: your alarm not working, your alarm going off at inappropriate times and your alarm failing to activate itself. You can solve your car alarm's problems by following these easy troubleshooting steps.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions

  1. 1

Do a routine check of all your car's systems. Sometimes, other parts of the car are causing the problem. Don't assume it's your car alarm before a thorough check. For instance, if you car will not start, there is probably something wrong with your battery or starter.

  2. 2

Disable your alarm manually. You may have to set the alarm to valet mode while you diagnose the problem. To do this, put the key in the ignition and press down on the push key until the light on the switch stays a solid color.

  3. 3

Check your sensors. Sometimes your car alarm will go off at inappropriate times if your sensor is too sensitive. Just adjust your settings to fix the problem.

  4. 4

Turn off or disconnect any other devices you have in your car. Often, radar detectors, GPS devices and cell phones can interfere with your car alarm system. It's

Changed the battery. The alarm went off, tried to reset but will not work. When driving push on the brakes and the car shut down. Is this an alarm issue or an electrical engine issue. Don't know what to...

Yes this is an Alarm issue that's why your vehicle is shutting down as soon as you press on the brake pedal. Is this an aftermarket alarm or stock alarm? Sounds like aftermarket alarm to me and if it is, the way fix this issue is as soon as you put the red n black terminal on the battery and the alarm goes off press your alarm key right away to turn it off. If this doesn't work put your key on the ignition after you have installed the battery and just put it on the "ON" position engine OFF then click on your alarm remote once again.

Alarm

The 'mazda' setting is supposed to look like an analog clock, and that's for setting the time. The key position puts the clock in operating mode, as opposed to clock set or alarm set modes.

I've only had the clock for a day, but if you want the alarms to shut off and alarm again the next day, use the OFF switch on the top right of the unit. If you want to disable the alarms completely, use the 1 and 2 buttons behind the OFF switch to cycle each alarm through the settings: none, bell, music (radio)
