I have several blue dots on my TV screen. Started with 1, now there are 8. What can I do?

thats a common symptom for that model which is usually related to the optical block. Very exspensive repair. Check with a sony authorized repair center as Sony has recognized the problem and offer assistance with certain models yours may be one of the ones affected.

Yes, your optical block ( light engine) is bad. Heat generated by the lamp circuit with its poorly designed ventilation system, cause the LCD panels inside the light engine to fail. They are the size of a postage stamp. There are 3 LCDs, for red, blue, and green. The heat causes them to warp and de-laminate.
Sony has systematically downed played the scope of this issue. It appears however that virtually every LCD projector they make can develop damage in the light engine which is extremely expensive to fix.
I suggest contacting Sony and your state's attorney general's office of consumer complaints asking for action on this.

The light engine (the projector part of tv) is failing. A common problem, but very expensive as you have to replace the entire engine, can't be repaired. Check with Sony to see if this model is still under their extended warranty or not. If so they'll fix it for free, if not be prepared to pay several hundred dollars at the least. At that point you'd probably be better off buying a new TV.
