When I try to download most recent pictures I am forced to download all that are on camera

It depends on what software you are using to transfer photos from the camera to your computer.
If you install and use the "Camera Window" transfer software Canon included with the camera, you will see you have three modes to choose from, including the option to transfer just the photos on your camera that have not yet been transferred.

Connect the camera with a USB cable to your computer.
Power up the camera.
The computer will detect the camera, and open a dialog box offering you a choice of programs on your computer that can handle photo transfers.

If you choose the Camera Window software, it will open and present a menu with three choices of action. The first option is, "Import images from Camera." Select this.

Another submenu opens presenting these three options:

1. Import Untransferred images. (this is what you said you want)
2. Select images to Import. (manually select just certain ones)
3. Import All images (automatically transfers every image on the card)

Camera Window is just one of many available image transfer applications you could use. They all do essentially the same three things outlined above, including "Import Untransferred images."

Canon included a couple other utility programs on the CD that came with your Powershot A490 camera. One of them, "Zoom Broswer EX" enables you to reload photos from your computer, back on to your camera's image card, if you want to do that.

Windows Vista Computer no longer detects Canon PowerShot A590IS Camera.

You may have to reinstall the Canon software suite that came with the camera. If you don't have it, it should be available online from Canon.

How to copy older IXUS100 images from the desktop to the IXUS100

In theory a card reader should enable you to see SD card as a drive.
You should also be able to see the card as a drive if you connect your IXUS to the computer-then you'll be able to copy the images back onto the card.
Good luck,
Raf

Camera wont read SAVED SCANNED jpeg images on SD card

The reason is that the images were not created on the camera in question. Each camera model saves pictures on a card in a proprietary naming protocol, and if your images do not adhere to this, they cannot be recognised by the camera

Deleting photos of my camera

Your camera creates folders on the SD card to hold the images. It puts about 100 images in each folder. (See page 111 in the User Guide.) When you erase images, it may only be erasing the images in one folder. But your computer still sees the images in the other folder(s). To completely erase all images, use the "Format" function (see pages 25 - 26 in the User Guide). To completely clear it, use the Low Level Format option. You can download the User Guide here.

Downloading images to computer.

While the camera is in the viewing mode plug the camera into the computer using the provided USB cable. As soon as you do that a window from windows should show up with all of your pictures located on your SD flashcard.

Hi everyone

I figured out why my camera stopped working, my DPOF settings were wrong. I had to go and set the setting to select all of my images. Then i was able to download.
