Heath Zenith #SL-5316 Motion detector light what are settings?
Have Heath Zenith #SL-5316 Motion detector light, but no instructions. What are the settings for this unit? I can send a photo of the controls, if you tell me where to send it.
The light quit working and I got a replacement light set, and want to move the motion detector to the new light unit.

Very common issue with motion sensing lights. You can either replace the light sensor which is available at most hardware stores or you can disable the motion sensing feature and just have an on-off light. To disable the sensor, (turn off the power!) unscrew and remove the light sensor (it is the reposition-able box under the light.) It depends on the particular light, but you usually just match up the wire coming into the light from the house and the wire from the bulbs and connect them with a wire-nut.
There are settings on the sensor itself. Should be a dusk to dawn setting that will keep it off during those times and then function at night. as far as not working I would first suggest setting the sensitivity. Disrupting to power could have reset this.
i have a question about heath zenith motion sensor light.
i put up two new Heath Zenith Motion Sensor Light Control the i buy from home depot tie into switch leg. When i put in on test it work fine stay on for a few second them off, but when i set up on automatic Time-1min.\ Dual Brite-off \ Lamp Mode-Normal light go off and them come back on for the rest of the nigh long and go off morning time. Any body have this problem?
By pulling it apart and following the circuit path it should be fairly apparent how to 'bridge out' the faulty PIR sensor.
If it is not, or you are not sure, then (no offence), you really shouldn't be playing with it. Some units are transistor bypass and some are relay. Cheers
The black wire goes with the black house supply wire, and the red wire goes with the black wire from the lighting fixture. The white wires all connect together.
Your motion detector is based on infrared or heat sensing technology. Moving air or wind will make your unit more sensitive to false alarming. Here are a few things for you to check: 1) make sure your unit is sealed. Any holes or openings in the unit's casing will affect operation. 2) you may need to readjust the unit's sensitivity. There may be an adjustment pod or jumper inside the detector to reduce sensitivity. 3) make sure the unit is mounted securely. If the wind causes the detector to move, even slightly, this could be the cause of your problem.
I am in the middle of a discussion with Heath/Zenith over a closely related and perhaps identical issue. I purchased their 5718 model from Home Depot and based on the fact that their brochure stated that "CFL bulbs are only usable on 270 degree units." I purchased the model 5718 unit (270 degree) and used CFL bulbs. It experienced the same problem others noted.
The technician at Heath/Zenith told me that only DIMMABLE CFL bulbs would work with this unit (even if the DualBrite feature is turned off). Standard CFL bulbs will not work.
Their brochure does not make that clear. Perhaps that is the answer to others' problems.
