Car smells like melting plastic

There can be a lot of odors that are present in cars.; If the engine is running rich, the CAT gets over heated and can cause some cars to catch on fire. That is the worse case scenario.

I have a coleman powermate pulse 1850 the wore a hole in the fuel tank. Talked to coleman and they have discontiuned the fuel tank, does anyone make a after market tank to replace the orginal.

If you feel comfortable taking the tank off yourself, there are many good plastic repair compounds out there that are fuel resistant. There are products designed to go on the inside of a motorcycle tank to fill rust pinholes on older bikes. it is called kreem.

do a search on plastic repair, and try one of the two part repair compounds. Harbor freight sells a plastic welder that will allow you to melt the tank and add plastic filler rod straight to the problem area, or you can use a soldering iron to melt the hole closed. be sure to wash the tank out with dawn dish soap first to get rid of the gas residue. dry it out good before the repair.

Bad odor, burning eyes from fumes.

It sounds as though some Plastic part is being heated up to Fuming Point, being melted, and releasing toxic gas, I would advise not using it until you can get it looked at by a professional.

Dishes are still damp after cycle is complete. This causes a bad odor in the dishwasher.

Bad odor is caused by something besides wet dishes.

When the water finishes it's part and is exhausted, does a fan come on and run for a long time? If not, the drying fan is bad, usually mounted on the side and runs after all the water is removed. Also, after the water stops, are the dishes and inside HOT? You have to have HOT water to make a dishwasher function properly, will also take care of some of that odor. When a dishwasher cycles, it washes and then heats the inside of the washer, then it runs a fan to remove the water and dry the dishes.

Make sure your dishwasher is hooked to the HOT water line and also check to be sure it can heat it's own water, put it on pot's and pans and it should heat the water quite hot, even if it has hot water coming in, it will heat it up some more.

Whirpool dishwasher

Ours does the same thing. I have been suspicious that it is the melting plastic stuff used in the dishwasher tabs that the wife uses.

Let me know if you use that same tab to wash you dishes.

We dont have any problem with the stuff getting on dishes (and we use all white diner type dishes.).

Burning plastic smell INSIDE refrigerator

look for a door/light switch, and depress it do the lights go out?? bad switch will keep the lights on and melt plastic lens covers.. could also be nothing and you happened to open open the door right as a defrost cycle was completing( there is a heating elemnt in your freezer) watch your dairy, ice cream nad milk are real good indicators of refrigeration issues. as far as runnig all the time no real" time limit" as to how long it should be running.

Odor will not go away.............

hi there,

i would let you try putting a small can with charcoal in it inside the dishwasher. However, you cant use it for about 1 weeks' time.

Charcoal absorbs trapped smell.

hope this helps.

For the smell, do a Google search for "smell microwave" or "odor microwave" for many great tips.
