Instructions say to remove 4 screws on back at top and top should slide back and be able to be lifted up and away. Top won't slide no matter what. What tricks should I try unit is about 3 years old...
You must slide it towards the front, not the back.
I am not budging
I had the same issue. After removing the set screws holding the top in place the top would not budge. My solution, like fixing an old TV's reception, get a thick towel out, and hit the top around all 4 edges with a hammer. Mine was stuck, hitting it with a hammer jarred it loose to slide it straight back using the plastic tabs on the back. Worked for me, YMMV. Good luck

Code will not tell which is faulty. To remove top: after removing three phillips head screws (leaving the L shaped part attached to the top) slide the top back about one and a half inches and lift it straight up.
