Is the noise constant or intermittent? Constant will be a combustion blower that's bad. Intermittent is probably an auger on its way out.

Just bought a house with a Gibraltar SCR stove in it. I want to use this thing, but have never owned a stove and don't know how. What fuel? How to set the fuel in the stove, etc. Can you help?

Gibraltar makes coal, pellet and wood stoves. Stoves that burn wood pellets have a hopper and feeder auger that feeds pellets into the burning chamber. They also require electricity to work. From what I read online you should be able to burn wood in the stove but I believe the coal stoves have a smaller burning chamber.
tip

Alternative Heating Pellet Stoves and Pellet Inserts

Pellet stoves usually use wood pellets as their primary heat source. A pellet stove is defined as a stove that burns either compressed wood or biomass pellets to make heat to warm a home or other space.

Pellet stoves come as either free-standing units or fireplace pellet inserts which can be vented into an existing chimney. As an insert, you are able to replace your wood burning stove with this efficient and cost effect stove. Inserts also give the homeowner more of the look of a fireplace than that of a pellet stove. Pellet inserts can also be a great alternative for people who have busy lifestyles and are looking to get the beauty of a fire but prefer a cleaner burning renewable heat source.

Pellet stoves are freestanding structures that can give you the feeling that an old pot bellied stove did, tucked into a corner of a living room, den, or kitchen. Either the pellet inserts or freestanding stoves are a great alternative heating solution for keeping a house warm during the winter.

Many stove manufacturers recommend the using a corn and pellet mixture, but some are UL listed for many fuels other than pellets. These can include wheat, corn, sunflower seeds, and cherry pits.

Pellet stoves are a bit more efficient, burn cleaner, and are easier to use than conventional wood burning stoves. Pellet stoves often look very similar to wood stoves or fireplace inserts, however the similarities end there.

If you are considering burning alternative fuels then you will want to look into a pellet stove as a great way to heat your home. Pellet stoves and pellet insets have many great advantages over regular wood stoves that make them a practical heat for busy lifestyles.

Heard a bang auger stopped moving seems loose. What's wrong?

Could be a broken safety drive pit in the auger if there is one. I am not sure but just an idea.

My auger on my napoleon pellett stove got noisy and then quit working. Is there a reset button and how do I find it and get it to work? I already gave my credit card information and was not able to chat...

Did i sound as if the auger got jammed when you first heard this noise? Or was the stove overheating? Have you changed the brand of pellets recently, from what you had been using? These are just a few of the things that can cause a pellet stove auger to stop working.

Yes, there is a reset switch, but since you didn't mention which model Napoleon Pellet Stove you have, it's hard to know where to tell you it is.

However, most Napoleon stoves are very similar in how they work and their mechanics. So, I have included a link to an Owners Manual for the NP140 Model. This should point out the things I mentioned, as well as other causes and how to solve them. Be sure to check out the Trouble Shooting Guide.

You can download and print this manual if you like.

Hope this helps head you in the right direction.
