This is most probaby because of a loose display cable connection .As the cable runs through the hinge slot to the mainboard of the laptop, open the laptop full and try pressing carefully on the left side of the laptop near the hinges area. this should give you the display back.

Computer Keeps Rebooting - cannot access Safe Mode 1. Boot up with Windows installation CD 2. It will give you the option to use RECOVERY CONSOLE 3. Type chkdsk to check disk - this fixes bad blocks and moves data to another area. 4. When completed, remove Windows installation CD and reboot computer
that means that some cables might be cut and when you move your screen, the contact goes and comes up, the solution is to replace your screen, or you can open it and check the cables yourself, and try to repair it by detecting witch cable is causing the problem and fix it
Have
you check the cable that goes from the screen at the motherboard?
Usually this cable is not visible; it is hidden it one of the joints
between screen and main body of the notebook. This cable is the most
common problem in the cases that the notebook keeps on
working although the screen is black. You can check it by opening slowly
- slowly the screen all the way up and closing again slowly. If there
is a cut at the cable your screen will get black at a specific slope.

Go to your settings menu and adjust the bar that says to turn your screen off after a minute. If that don't work then have IT open this puppy up and replace the bulbs or inverter.
I had a similar problem, but I got a picture before it broke up and went off. The screen was backlit, but no video (screen was receiving some power).
The LCD needs a very stable voltage to work, this is provided through the LCD connector ribbon. In my case the ribbon was damaged and replaced it.
I have had no problem since.
I discovered this through trial and error; I first changed my transformer power supply and then the video inverter card.
