It's not possible to delete a Skype account or change a Skype Name after it has been created. However, you can remove all the personal information contained in your profile. This will ensure that other people cannot search for you in Skype by using personal information such as your full name, email or phone number (although they will still be able to search for your Skype Name).

The personal information contained in your profile depends on the information you provided when you created or updated your profile. It may include your name, gender, date of birth, phone number, email address, mood message and any profile pictures of yourself you have uploaded.

To delete the personal information in your profile:

Sign in to Skype.
View your profile.
On Windows desktop: In the menu bar, click Skype > Profile > Edit Your Profile...
On Mac: In the menu bar, click File > Edit Profile...
On Linux: Click your Skype Name and select Edit profile.

Also there is technical solution for this issue like Delete Skype Account program which deletes all your personal data instant messages, personal Skype files on your local PC related to your Skype account http://softcomfortinc.com/delete-skype-account/

I created a Skype account and now i have no idea how to delete it .

Unlike some other programs, Skype does not allow you to actually delete your account.
This means you will still show up if and when others search for you or try to add you as a contact.
You can, however, delete your Skype account from your PC.
Doing so removes the account in question from the list of options available when you sign into Skype.
Log out of Skype and quit the program entirely.
Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your screen, then type "run" (without quotes) into the "Search programs and files" field that appears.
Click the Run option under Programs in the list of results.
This opens a new window.

Enter the term "%appdata%\skype" into the new window. Do not include the quotation marks.
Click "OK." This opens another new window.

Locate the folder that has the same name as the account you wish to delete in the list that appears in this new window.
Right-click this folder, then click "Delete" in the list of options that appears.
Click "Yes" in the window that pops up to ask if you are sure you wish to delete the folder.
You have now successfully deleted the Skype account from your PC.

Can I delete my Skype account

I opened a skype account a few years back but have never used it! Today, I see 7 different pending charges on my bank card. Each charge is $7.23. I AM NOT HAPPY! Help, please

They charged money because you are probably signed up to a 12/18/24 month contract with them. Read the small print before you give out credit card details. You will need to get in touch with the organisation in writing/Email and let them know you longer require their services.
Keep a copy for yourself for any further correspondence and see you bank to have them not allowed to take out of your account.
This is the only way.

I want to delete my skype accounc and open a new one

  1. 1Log into your Skype account as usual.
  2. 2Navigate to "Subscription" settings.
  3. 3Click on "Cancel subscription". Click "yes" and follow the prompts.
  4. 4Don't use the account for 10 days. This will ensure that your public profile is erased - if you sign in before this, the system will remember you and your account might not be deleted.
  5. 5If you have been automatically recharging your account, you will need to disable this too. Look for the payment settings, click on "View Settings", and click on "Disable auto-recharge".

How do i use skype?

Skype is a great way to communicate.. I prefer it over other programs as it better suits a traveling person.
  1. Open a Skype Account. Go to www.skype.com
  2. (Computer->Computer) Search for your friends online. Add them by (Contacts / Add Contact). This is a free service
  3. (Computer->Phone). This is called SKYPE OUT. You can dial any fixed or mobile phone anywhere around the world if you add credit in your SKYPEOUT account (go to www.skypeout.com). Paypal and Credit card are supported. You can either add 10 EURO or 25 EURO at one time. Calls are cheap (depending on country), and are relatively comparable to IP cards. Remember to dial the country prefix!
  4. (Phone->Computer). This is called SKYPE IN. This is a VERY convenient service. SKYPE IN (www.skypein.com)allows you to reserve a phone number in a country of choice. The cost is 30 EURO a year, or 10 EURO for 3 months. This allows you to hand out a local number to friends / work collegues in a different country (so they are charged only a local call), and when they call you, your SKYPE on your computer will ring (no matter where you are in the world!). This is handy if you want to have a number on your business card for a country that you do not reside. The only cost to you is the yearly rental of the number, and the caller is charged a normal phone call charge.
Things You'll Need:
  • You'll need a Headset with a Microphone. The best to use is a set with the TWO plugs (microphone and speaker). Avoid the USB type headset (these can be painful when trying to remove the device). Th
  • You'll also need a Credit Card if you want to use SKYPEIN or SKYPEOUT
  • A computer! Preferably a newer computer with a better-than-modem connection.
  • Optional - WebCam. Version 2.0 and later supports video. Although not particularly flash - its still pretty cool (remember you'll need a fast internet connection for video)

How do I close a Skype account that I no longer use?

Hi, 1. First thing you can do is to remove all your personal details from your skype account. So when a search is done no one can find you and do not login into your skype account for some time(min 30 days). This will automatically delete your skype account.
2.Second thing you can do is to contact Skype at [email protected]. Within a reasonable period of time and upon verification of Your identity, Skype will fulfill Your request of deleting the account.

Thanks! mannu_rakesh

I subscribed for a new account: three months unlimited calls worldwide. I noticed that when I inserted the number of my credit card for the new account, you have also renewed my previous account- pay as...

Hi and wecome to fixya.com

I suspect that the 3 month unlimited calls worldwide is only valid for new customers.

You will have to contact skype directly to get them solve the problem.

all I can suggest without being related to skype in anyway is to cancel your account or cancel the charge on your credit card. Then possibly use another credit card or for example your wifes details instead so that they don't revert back to your old account.

Thanks and good luck
Ekse
