I'm running the Sony Bravia as an external display from my PC over HDMI, at regular intervals the picture will cut out then return in inverted colours which will only go away if you change the source e.g. from HDMI 1 to 2 and back again. I have checked that my computers power saving options are off (display never sleeps, computer never sleeps) Have you heard of this or a similar problem before? I am running the TV as a mirror of my desktop, perhaps the difference in screen ratio (16:9 to 16:10) has something to do with it?
Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

You can turn off the information display using the user menus.
also hitting the display button should make any and all OSD information go away.

If its less than a year ago, Take it back, to the retailer, as there is a statutory 12 month guarantee on the majority of goods in the UK. If its older than 12 months, you could try having a look inside the back, may be its a dodgy connection from the main AV board to the Screen, disconnect the connector have a look for any undue signs, and reconnect it at both ends. Failing that, you may have to bite the bullet and take it to a TV repairer for them to tell you its a Dodgy AV/RF board, which are now obsolete, or you may be luckier than me. If that is the case, try looking on ebay for AV board for you TV model/make. Hope that helps a bit

You may ahev failing T-CON board, try having a small fan blowing at the vent on the back of the TV. If you can post pictures it will help a lot.
