Turn signal I have a 1997 GMC Sierra. When light switch is off, the flashers blink fine. When the switch is on, the flashers blink rapidly. What do I have to do to have the flashers blink normal when the switch is on?

When the flasher blinks quickly, that usually indicates that one of the flashing bulbs has burnt out. You will have to do a visual check of all the bulbs to see if one has failed and if it has, replace it.

SOURCE: gmc sierra turn flasher location

The flasher on this vehicle looks nothing like the flasher's of yesteryear. It will be located behind the drivers side knee bolster(under the steering wheel). It will be a small black box that is about 3 inches wide, 2 inches deep, and 1 inch thick. It may be somewhat difficult to locate because on some of the GM trucks they actually hide it behind the guage cluster bezel but to the left of the guages. Let me know if I can help you any further.

SOURCE: location of turn signal flasher for 1997 Buick skylark

the flasher is behind the dash where the steering column goes. It's hard to get at and harder to remove. They just can't make these things easy, can they?

SOURCE: 1997 GMC Sierra Ignition Switch Replacement

take off the cover on the top and bottom of the steering column just behind the wheel. pop the tilt lever out simply just by grabbing it and give it a good tug. then once you have the new switch and you get in there your going to need an inverted torx socket to remove the small bolts that hold the switch to the column. do not move the gear on the new switch make sure it lines up exactly as the old one did!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: no brake/hazard lights,have running/turn signal lights

Suggest you change hazard flasher 'can' first, then go to the hazard switch. I'm betting it's the flasher can.

My left turn signal recently stopped working. Before ceasing to work, the turn signal (just the left) would blink very rapidly (machine gun speed).

sounds like one of light bulbs was malfunctioning and caused the flasher unit to blink rapidly and iy burned out. Replace front and rear turn lite bulbs and see if flasher flashes. if not check fuse and replace fuse. If fuse okay replace flasher unit. Good luck

1997 gmc sierra extended cab - turn on the right turn signal and all of the lights go on but do not flash on and off and get a single buzz from the flasher unit. turn on the left turn signal and all works...

I would start by replacing the flasher, then if you still have a problem then check the bulbs for the rightside, make sure they all are good and the sockets are good, this sounds like a bad flasher.

Flasher is clicking with signal switch in the off position

First of all check the Flasher relay. The other to check is the ground wiring. Is the wiring's proper or getting short. The flasher is clicking in off position this indicates that its actually turning off.the flasher is still receiving any current to function. so the wiring's needs to be checked and confirmed. The wiring procedure  in 1999 GMC sierra  is as follows:--
The circuit is fairly simple: 12 V power from the ignition relay is brought to the Hazard switch. In the Off position, the 12 v is routed through the Hazard switch to one pin of the flasher. Another pin of the flasher goes to ground. The third pin goes to the turn signal switch, where it is connected to either the left or right signal light circuits. The other side of each bulb is connected to ground. When either the turn signal or Hazard switch is turned on, the current through the flasher causes it open and close its internal contact in the 12 V line, thereby turning the signal lights on and off. So, for the flasher to continue to click when the ignition switch is at ON/OFF (assuming there is no clicking when it is OFF), there must be a connection from the 12 V supply through the flasher and the turn switch. It is possible that there is a wire between the flasher and the turn signal switch that is worn and contacting ground.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

I have no brake lights or turn signals on my 95 gmc truck. I have replaced the boards but no luck. Also have checked fuses.

OK if the fuses are good , use a test light and check to be sure you have power at the fuse terminals. you'll check from ground to the terminal on top of the fuse. you should have 12vdc. then , check for power at your brake light switch on both terminals while the brake pedal is pressed, it is located located on the brake pedal assembly. also , check your hazard flasher switch to be sure it is not on. if it was on, check your flashers, both the turn signal and hazard flasher. If everything checks out , your problem is probably in your turn signal switch assembly located in your steering column.

Passenger side signal does not work

Is it just the passenger side, or is it all turn signals? If it is all of them, it could be as simple as the flasher module. It is a small black box, relay, under the dash. Probably mounted on top of the steering column...it just pulls out...usually the most common symptom is the signal lights up but doesn't blink. It's possible that a bad flasher could cause just the pass side to not blink, but more commonly neither will blink. If the flasher isn't bad, it could be the turn signal switch itself. That involves removing the steering wheel to get to it, so for your sake I hope it's the flasher. Hope this helped some.
