The info I pulled off the internet instructed me to hold the icon I wanted deleted and wait till an X formed above the held icon but none formed, now I do not know what to do to remove an unwanted icon on my home screen.
When removing those icons you are actually deleting the apps from your ipad. There are some apps built into you ipad and those cannot be deleted.
However you can move them out of sight to another screen.
Or create a folder icon and move them there if you do not use them often.

On the app you want to delete hold it down until the apps starts shaking and a cross will appear in the apps you can delete. Click on the cross and it will say delete "name of app", then select the delete button. Once you have done this, press the home button to go back to normal. Hope this helps.

the only thing that i can be sure that would help is that you need to call the manufacturer and get a screen replacement because since the ipad is fairly new it wont have many guides or anything that can really fix a broken screen.

I believe that you may have the accessibility mode turned on. I think if you double tap with three fingers it should return to normal.

Try reseting the iPad by holding the home and power buttons simultaneously until the iPad completely shuts down and the Apple logo appears.
Once the Apple logo appears you can release the buttons. If this does not work, you may need to connect your iPad to your computer and do a factory restore using iTunes.

- After some seconds continous pressing, the App icons will begin to shake.
- Then tap the close button which will be denoted by 'X' symbol on the top left corner on one of the icons you wish to delete
- You will be prompted whether to delete the application.
- You will have to click on the delete button.
- If you wish to re-install the application later again, you will have to go to the App Store and then download again.
