Connected Netgear NeoTV Streaming Player through HDMI port and connected MacBook Pro Laptop through DVI port. Both devices worked on smaller Sanyo flatscreen TV using the same HDMI and DVI cables.
I would assume then this new TV is the issue. I had this issue on a TV in a holiday cottage. Turned out they were dummy/redundant ports for higher end models of the same TV. Is this a feature the new TV supports?
Yes, these are features the new TV supports according to the manual. Following is a more detailed account of my problem. I have a like-new (never been used) 2007 Initial LCD TV Model HDTV-320. All functions work EXCEPT no signal for HDMI or DVI. I have connected a Netgear NeoTV Streaming Player through HDMI port, but get no signal. Also, I have connected a MacBook Pro laptop through DVI port, but get no signal. Both devices worked on a smaller Sanyo flatscreen TV using the same HDMI and DVI cables. So I know both devices and cables work. A cable company tech suggested the ports were bad, so I removed the main board. Visual inspection of the main board revealed nothing obvious, so I showed it to local electronic technicians, who said they were unable to test or repair the main board, but they suspected that is where the problem lies. Main board part number is DTV3218ATM V2.3 QAM. A Google search for this part number suggests this same main board is also used in another brand, ILO LCD TV Model HDTV-322. Further research revealed the ILO and Initial brands look identical. If you agree the problem most likely originates with the main board, can you recommend a reliable source for a replacement? Should I search for new or used? How much should I expect to pay? Based on the information I have provided, can you think of another possible solution to the problem? A "firmware update" was suggested, but I have not been able to find firmware update information for the Initial HDTV-320. Any suggestions on this?
Yes, I would agree, with information you have provided a mainboard replacement seems like your best bet. I can't recommend anyone to supply this part, however I can advise most manufacturers, if you approach them directly can advise you of their main part distributors.
My first action was to contact manufacturer directly on 3-17-14. So far, no returned phone call or reply to email. NO HELP from Double Power Technology (formerly Initial Technology, Inc.), 1935 Puddingstone Dr., La Verne CA 91750 U.S.A., 800-216-5156 or 909-974-2859, www.doublepowertech.com. Why is it so difficult to find main part distributors for brand TVs? Since I have the main board part number, would you recommend that I take my chances on finding a replacement part on Ebay? And by the way, you did not comment on the "update firmware" theory that I mentioned. Could my problem be solved with a "reset"? And where do I find the firmware update information? Sorry for all the questions, but you guys are the only ones providing credible responses to my inquiry. Thanks!

SOURCE: can't get all digital channels
There are several possibilities assuming you have an outdoor antenna with the amplification. You are too far from the transmitter or the station is still on a low power digital transmitter until the analog broadcasts end. Additionally, there may be buildings, hills or trees in the way. The first one is called the digital cliff - you either have enough signal for your tuner or you don't. Some stations may need to add transmitters to cover the secondary areas that could still receive the analog signal. The second possibility will either resolve on Feb 18 or June 12 or anywhere in between. (It will depend on your station and the Digital TV transistion delay bill. Some stations are changing frequencies with the transistion and can't go to full power until another analog station moves its frequency.) The last one can't be resolved.
If you have an indoor antenna, you can try moving it around to get better results. My household has an amplified outdoor antenna with a rotator to get the antenna to line up with the signal. We have two analog stations that give problems when we look for their digital signals. We hope the issue will resolve with the changeover since we have seen the signals on both stations improve when they wanted to broadcast football games.

If you are trying to get 'off the air' signals then you must scan for the new digital channels in your reception area (this info should be in your owners manual). If scanning doesn't find any signals, you might have to add a VHF/UHF line amplifier(s) between your antenna and the TV set or improve your outside antenna or the cable leading from it to your set. You might have to resort to subscribing to HD cable or satellite TV.
