Stove top works , oven does not

Nothing happens when I turn my oven on. The heat source at the bottom does not come on and there's no gas odor. However, the gas stove still works fine, so I know that the gas supply is working. The electricity is fine because the digital display works but when I turn on oven the display only goes to 100 degrees and stays there

SOURCE: Gas stove works, but oven does not

A gas oven will have some built in safety devices. Assuming that you have an electric pilot light sparking device, anything in the pilot light circuit could cause your problem

The oven does not "want" to turn the gas on unless there is an operating pilot system.

Since you never smell gas, but gas is available, then something in the pilot light circuit sounds like the culprit.

It could be as simple as carbon build up on the igniter or an internal fusing mechanism.

If you can get into the oven to the igniter, you could try cleaning the unit with a plastic scrunge.

I'm going to guess that this is not going to respond well to 'home grown' measures and that it will require replacement of parts.

Perhaps it is time to bite the bullet and call in repair......

good luck

How do I check the pilot light and relight it on a 2003 GE Gas range

The igniter coil is burnt out. The thermostat turns it on. If it does not work there will be no gas from the valve. This is a safety feature.

Oven was heating and we got HEAVY smoke....

Nothing in the elements, thermostat thermocouples are gas filled, sensors have wiring inside, nothing in the liner or insulation. You said this was a stove, and some stoves have a vent that goes up through one of the burners on the top. If you had oil splatter or drip into this it can get into your oven. We do know that some blower fans on convection ovens have a sealed oil bearing, but there would be very little oil coming out of this (drops) and you will notice your fan getting noisier or running slower in the near future. My maytag gas oven model #MGR5755QDW makes a loud poof noise when first turned on. It doesn't do it all the time and it only happens when it is first lights.

You are getting a delayed ignition fom the oven burner. Either the ports on the burner near the ignitor are clogged or you have a weak oven ignitor. part # 12400035 @ $70.00

Kenmore gas oven won't heat up

If your ignitor is coming on that means the oven control is supplying the power to the ignitor and gas valve. So the gas valve is ok because it is allowing for a complete circuit so what the heck is wrong? The ignitor MUST draw 3.5 amps in order to open the gas safety and allow the gas to come out. The ignitor must be very bright, if it is dim then it is bad. (MORE)

Gas stove works, but oven does not

you most likely have a bad oven ignitor...if you see an orange glow under the oven panel that is your ignitor trying to come on....but if it is weak it will not open the gas valve.....acess the ignitor and replace it
