if you only removed the ice you can see without removing the back panel then you need more defrost time yes. but the frost will come back, something in the defrost system has failed. so the answer is yes to both questions off for longer and something more serious too.

i dont think so i would look at the compressor kicking out on thermal overload or a faulty thermostat thermostats have two settings cut in cut out your cut in could be bad and not turning the compressor on till the temp reaches melting temps now if your hearing a click buzz then you need to look at the compressor and make sure the compressor fan is running but its not a defrost promblem

You have a defrost problem. It means you have 3 parts that can be involve ( timer, defrost thermostat, element) most of the time it's the timer. Hope it was helpful. :)

If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. both freezer and fridge part not working fridge seems to be on, there is a click sound on every so often however 30seconds later another click sound is heard turning off something.
