Panasonic Viera 46" Flat Panel TV Model TC-P46C2 The TV works, video and audio. The problem is there is a horizontal band of thin vertical red and blue lines across the screen. This band is a few inches in height - thin vertical red lines, then vertical blue lines, red lines, blue lines across the width of the screen. The band is a little lower than midway (top to bottom). Thanks for your help.

This is vertical problem. The tv have a cold solder in vertical ic or ic is bad.

This is a very common problem with this Panasonic set where half the right side is bad and the other half is good. This has been traced to a general plasma panel defect in the manufacturing precess. The panel lasts only about 1.5 years and they go bad. The only solution is to replace the plasma panel. The charges for the cost and labor will double the original prize of the TV set.Good luck.

problem could also be inside the display panel.
Fixed mine, myself! Black 3 inch vertical band (stripe) appeared after a cros country move on our PC-T50G10. Occasionally we would see white band with multicolored pixel width stripes. Took the risk of taking off the back to see if I could see anything. Found places on sides and bottoms where plastic like 2" flat cables could be seen. Guesstimated where the band was and found that I could flip down a black cover on one end of the cable. Tried to pull it, gently. Mistake. Realized it wouldn't one out like computer hard drive cables, so I took out the screws holding the plate on the other end (it's only an inch long). That allowed me remove the cable. Took it out, cleared away dust, put t back and closed the black over. It worked! Put the screws back in, back on and... we are happy (although I do have four extra screws!). Just be gentle.
