seal around freezer door may be warped/old/cracked... or thermostat is not working properly.
Try duct taping door as tightly shut as possible and check around the time it freezes to see if that fixes the problem. If so, the seal (that has magnets so it will seal completely) needs to be replaced.
If that doesn't fix the problem, it could be a faulty thermostat in the freezer.
If your unit has a defrost timer, and you don't see it at one of the back corners, then it will be hidden behind the front kick plate either on the left or right corners.
Empty appliance until fully defrosted.Turn back on IF this happens again first replace the thermostat if this does not work the appliance may need new as or new compressor
I am not sure if you said you checked the=>5303918476 Defrost Control Board or here=> 5303918476 If you replaced the defrost thermostat inside the freezer that is most likely not the problem. These defrost control boards will really cause strange things to happen. Sometimes by unplugging and taking out the control board you will see burn marks or signs of heat damage on the printed circuit, not always. Unplug and open the control panel inside the fresh food compartment=> GLRS237ZW2 Control Panel
You will see part/location number 23 is your 5303918476 Defrost Control
BoardIf I misunderstand
please let me know so I can help you resolve this problem. Thanks Sea Breeze
the defrost circuit has a problem, allowing the frost/ice buildup.. remove the shelves, and back lower cover in the rear of the freezer to expose the evaporator coil, defrost heater, and defrost thermostat. the defost heater should have continuity through it and the defrost thermostat will have continuity when frozen but test open when warmed.. if either bad replace. if both test good look for bad connections in the freezer compartment wiring, and moly connectors otherwise the temperature controls are bad and it is an electronic assembly that incorporates the temperature controls with the deforst timer controls.. hope this helps, best of luck, ttfn
Check rear wall of freezer by feel for frost. Heavy, even frost indicates likely problem in the defrost system. Unplug unit. Defrost heater (in freezer behind rear wall panel), defrost thermostat (same area-must be checked at freezer temperature) or Defrost timer-located lower back outside of unit. Near compressor. Do continuity test on heater and defrost thermostat and if they show continuity (good), replace defrost timer. If not, replace the one that tests bad.
Defrost coils fully. Reassemble.
Please let me know if I have helped with comments and rating.
Refrigerator will work about 7-10 days after being defrosted until thick frost builds up again cutting off air flow to both compartments
You can use a hairdryer to speed it up but you need to fix the defrost sytem.
How to check
everything
http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In
most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board.
If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.
You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks
and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace
the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the
timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.
Could be that the automatic defrost feature is not operating properly. You can go here if you want to find out how you might be able to fix it yourself, but you'll need to be comfortable with diagnostic testing and taking your frig apart. Otherwise, it's very repairable...contact a reputable repair company to come check it out.
Be sure you have the defrost timer set for 4 defrost cycles and no less than 30 minutes each time.
Make sure doors close and seal tight.
Verify that the defrost heaters work.
Sit and time a defrost cycle. It could be terminating early, prior to the coil being completely cleared.
If it is frost on the coil, could be an air leak or high humidity.
If it is icing, it is a defrost problem.
Start here and let me know.
you just have to change the temperature control. I recommend using a white rodgers part no. 1609-105 set the cut out to about 33 cut in at 38 or 39 you might have to set defrost time to less minutes about 5 or 6 if coils dosent frezze with the setting i gave you. the bulb of the temperature control can be placed on the border dof the difusser.
