Samsung Range control panel won't turn on.

Just installed a new Samsung Range and the control panel will not turn on. The surface plates function and get hot. Cannot turn the oven on because the control panel is completely blank. Brand new. Installed exactly according to manual. Checked breaker. Can I reset to get it going?

Check the voltage at the ac cord. Make sure you have 240 there. Sounds like your missing one leg there

SOURCE: clicking sound from control panel

This clicking sound is a result of the heating element cycling on and off as it tries to maintain a temperature. It heats up rapidly to a maximum, safe temperature and once the maximum is met it shuts off for a couple of seconds so it does not overheat the cooktop and/or your temperature setting. As far as the clicking, just how loud is it? If it's minimal and only fantly noticable then it's normal. If it is quite loud and annoying that may be a whole other issue. Does this information help? Let me know.
Before I forget, there should be a section in your Owner's Manual explaining that the clicking sound is part of it's normal activity.

How to replace a surface burner ignighter on my Jen-Air Gas Convection Range JGRP536.

Replacing a surface burner igniter on a Jen-Air Gas Convection Range JGRP536 can be done by following these steps:
  1. Turn off the gas supply to the range.
  2. Lift up the cooktop and locate the igniter that needs to be replaced.
  3. Remove the screws that secure the igniter bracket to the burner assembly.
  4. Carefully lift the igniter bracket off the burner assembly and disconnect the wires from the igniter.
  5. Remove the old igniter from the bracket and discard it.
  6. Install the new igniter onto the bracket and connect the wires to the new igniter.
  7. Reinstall the igniter bracket onto the burner assembly and secure it with the screws.
  8. Lower the cooktop back into place.
  9. Turn the gas supply back on and test the new igniter to make sure it is functioning properly.
Note: It is important to make sure the replacement igniter matches the specifications of the original igniter for proper function and safety. If you are not comfortable with performing this task, it is recommended to seek the assistance of a qualified technician.

How to test surface burner on Electric range

In order to test the surface burner on your electric range, the following steps should be taken:

  1. Before repairs or testing can begin you must disconnect the electricity at the fuse panel, at the circuit breaker panel, or by pulling the plug. Make sure the power is off before proceeding. A jolt from 220 volts can be fatal, use caution!

  2. Remove the surface burner from the stove top. On most electric ranges this can be done by pulling the burner up and out of its plug-in receptacle. Other models have the burner directly wired to the cook top. To remove this type of burner, undo the screw that secures the burner to the cook top, remove the clips that secure the insulators to the burner terminals, and carefully unscrew the wires from the terminals. Take care not to bend these terminals.

  3. Visually inspect the burner - often there will be small holes or bubbles on the surface of a defective element.

  4. Now that you have removed the burner, you can test it using your VOM. Using the ohmmeter function, set the range scale to R x 1 and touch the test leads to the two burner terminals. The VOM should show continuity. Typical burner readings should be somewhere between 19 and 115 ohms, depending on the range manufacturer. If there is no continuity, the burner is defective. To test for a grounded (or shorted) burner, place one test lead on the outside surface of the burner and the other test lead on each burner terminal in turn. If there is continuity at either terminal, the burner is defective.

  5. If the burner is defective, replace with a new one by reversing the removal procedure (step 2 above). If replacing a wired-in burner, make sure that you install the wires on the correct terminals, according to the wiring diagram.

REMEMBER YOU ARE WORKING WITH 220 VOLTS - USE EXTREME CAUTION!!!

Feature not available

I had the same problem with a new kitchenaid range which they have agreed to replace after 1 month. Oven shut off a couple times while baking and feature not available displayed when trying to turn on oven again. I tried starting clean cycle and waiting a couple minutes for element to heat then cancelled clean cycle. Oven worked fine after this but this shouldnt be a solution, obviously something not wired right.

The control panel does not work at all for our oven, the time is displayed, but the oven will not turn on. The range works fine. I think I need to reset the control panel? for model GE Profile J2B918SELSS

If there is no reset on the control panel, which there normally isn't, you will probably have to get a new one if you wish to use auto. function in the future. If you don't require auto. function it is a simple procedure to by-pass the timer so the oven will work. With the timer by-passed the clock will still function.

If my electricity goes out is there anther way to light my gas stve that has and electronic ignighter

If you have a gas range that allows the gas to flow freely on the surface burners, you can light them by using a match or lighter. Hold the match or lighter adjacent to the burner you intend to light and slowly turn the gas on. The burner should light.

However, the oven still will NOT work due to that fact that modern ovens are electronically controlled by the control panel on the range. So...you will still be able to cook, using the surface burners, but the oven will not function. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Broiler coil sparked and broke, stopped working; 1 1/2 weeks later bake coil burnt out. I got new coils from the manufacturing, and had someone install. They don't work. The surface cooking area works...

Installer either did not do the job right OR when the coils broke they shorted in a manner that fried the oven control. The installer SHOULD have verified proper operation before they left your premises.
