Yes it can be due to faulty brushes on the motor , problem with the capacitors leaking or a faulty motor that has reduced the RPM.

The manual says this is due to a blockage.
Check your hoses, make sure they have not been squashed / blocked. If they are OK, check the filter at the front of the machine, it's under the flap. Careful, when you open the cap a lot of water will leak out, so be prepared with a tray or something.
Losen the cap, let some water drain then empty the tray, keep going then eventually pull out the filter. Clean it out completely and refit. Test the machine, it should work ok.

This is usually caused by mostly using low temperature washes. The detergent manufacurers don't tell you, but low temperatures don't kill the bacteria present on most clothes, so they breed and and multiply in nice warm moist washing mashines. The cure is to do a "maintenance wash" every so often, which is the hottest wash the machine can do, and this will kill the bacteria. Also adding washing soda to this wash will help to freshen it up.

Sounds like your water pipes are on the wrong way round so its rinsing in hot water.

try these two things first:check the brushes on the motor you will have to remove it first they are held on with two screws on each,and also there is a drain filter behind the kick plate at the bottom of the machine if this is blocked it does sometimes cause the machine not to spin properly hope this helps

you could try and pop off the door seal from the w/m front and reach down to see if retrieval is possible.
