I'm sure you have dirt in your carb. If you know how to take the carb apart......You need to get a can of carb cleaner and carb kit. Take the carb apart and spray every hole and nook a crany you can see. Put the new kit in the carb and you should be ready to go!! This has happened to several times.
Purchase "02 Sensor Safe" throttle body cleaner spray;
Drive the vehicle a few miles, bringing it to full operating temperature, then park it in your driveway with the engine still running;
Gain access to the throttle body, and hold your thumb on the butterfly linkage so that you can open the throttle butterfly when the engine begins to load;
Begin by spraying throttle body cleaner spray on all linkages around the throttle body. If the engine begins to bog because it is aspirating throttle body cleaner, quickly open the throttle butterfly to keep the engine running.
Once you have cleaned all around the throttle body, spray cleaner DIRECTLY INTO THE THROTTLE BODY, opening the throttle sufficiently to keep the engine running. It will run rough during this process but try not to let the engine stall.
If the engine stalls, restart it, and continue cleaning the throttle throat until you see clean metal.
Pour some fuel system cleaner into the gas tank and drive the car a little more before parking it. Try to find an excuse to accelerate hard, WIDE OPEN THROTTLE momentarily if safely possible (as when accelerating to merge into traffic on a highway).
Try spraying carb/throttle body cleaner around the throttle body after the truck is warmed up all the way get someone to sit in the truck with it in drive and there foot on the brake if the idle raises there's a vacuum line leaking or your throttle body gasket is leaking if no increase in idle then thoroughly clean out the throttle body with the spray if it's very dirty inside the varnish from the fuel burning is causing the throttle plate to stick or stay open causing your engine to have increased rpms if your using no name brand gas stop now your killing your motor the major brands have detergents in the gas to keep things clean and better mpgs brands like usa Valero speedway delta liberty are all garbage and should only be used in an emergency situation like you're going to run out also if you are using this junk get 2 cans of Berrimans fuel system cleaner and put it in the gas tank every week for a month or so this will clean out the emissions and gas tank of the dirt and varnish from bad cheap gas I say 2 at a time because the super strength is needed to clean out the gunk and keep using it at least 1 can a month with good higher grade fuel 93 octane for about 2 months after then either stay at 93 or go to 91 or 89 not 87 ///// now the reason for the higher octane fuel is this the higher the octane level the slower the fuel burns and cleaner more efficient burning with the cleaner combination to get out the gunk your truck will run much better and mpgs will increase now post back with progress write down everything you've done and we will take it from there if the problem persists but I don't think so I'm a taxi mechanic in nyc.with 50 years experience so that's where the information is coming from and a lot of the cars have 300,000 to 450,000 miles on them so I would say you should listen to this advice they are ford crown Victorias and are original motors good luck stephen
Are you pulling the plug to check for wetness after cranking it a few times, WITHOUT using the starting fluid? Also, I would recommend using carb cleaner in place of the starting fluid. Starting fluid runs the engine VERY hot for a brief time and can possibly damage rings, valves, and aluminum parts.
remove the carburator.. It's plugged.
disassemble and soak the body in fresh gasoline for about 10 mins.
Blow out all the ports with small engine carb cleaner and reassemble.
Drain the gas tank , clean it and refill with fresh gas mixture
It doesn't take much to clog those little carbs
Remove the air intake and spray the carb down with carb cleaner. Buy new gas/mix. Put 1 oz of Sea Foam" into one gallon of the mix. Run two or more tanks of fuel and it should straighten out.
